EXCITING TIMES.... AND SAD TIMES

Dear Friends,

Those of you who visit this website regularly will have noticed that I have not been around for a while. Some of you will remember that I posted at the end of last year to tell everyone about the sad news of my employer of 11 years going into liquidation.

Well, things have all started dropping into place now, and I am pleased to let you know that I will be going self-employed as 'The One Stop Draughting Shop' (Drafting to you US friends) in about three weeks time, after I have completed my training on a new CAD software package. I already have four clients on the books, and a number of others seeking my new found talents :)

The bad news is, as any of you that work for yourselves will know, this new venture is leaving me with very little spare time for other things. I haven't even been for one run since the middle of December! :(

I am managing to get to the gym a couple of time a week though now. (I have to. I put on 3kg over Christmas!)

Unfortunately, this means that with much regret, I have had to ask TJ to let me step down from my role as Vice President of the BRS - a task that I have very much enjoyed doing over the last year or so.

If there is anyone (or maybe a team of people?) who could take over my roles, it would be much appreciated. The items I used to deal with were things like:

1. Monitoring the Chapter pages and setting up new Presidents as required.

2. Monitoring the Chapter Facebook pages and keeping them up to date for Chapters with no Presidents.

3. Helping with the organisation of IBRD.

4. Looking after the spreadsheet for the Winter Challenge (this year first time.)

5. Issuing Mileage Club certificates.

6. Organising fortnightly Giveaway competitions.

7. Compiling news articles for Barefoot Running magazine three times a year.

8. Any other things TJ can think of ;)

I will be staying on as President of the UK Chapter for a while, but will be looking out for someone to take over this role at IBRD in May. (Hopefully still taking place in Brighton.)

If anyone thinks they can help with any of the above, please let TJ know.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for having me as your VP, and as a member of this very friendly group. I will still be doing barefoot running whenever I can, and I hope to see some of you again sometime very soon.

Bye for now and ..... Happy Running!

Paul

Big shoes to fi....Sorry, bad metaphor for this group.

Good luck Paul, I do miss the yellow t-shirt(and you too of course).

Thanks for all you've done for the group, Paul. You'll be missed, but once you get things up and "running" you'll be BACK! Best of luck in your new venture.

New chapter -- exciting!

(Know you are always welcome here, and have extra riding gear.) <3
