2015 Mileage Club

It's that time again!

Tot up your mileage tallies for last year and post them below. Let us know how many miles (or km) you ran, walked or hiked either barefoot and/or minimal during 2014 and get a shiny certificate of accomplishment!

Check out previous years' Mileage Club Certificate recipients here: http://thebarefootrunners.org/library-articles/mileage-club.23/

2015 was a mixed bag for me, but a good year none-the-less. My ex moved out a few days into January, so it was the first year I have been single since I was 21, and had my son pretty much every day I was off (~50% of the time) so finding time to run was a bit more problematic since he isn't old enough / mature enough to leave home alone. More of an issue during the summer months especially, when he did not have school.

I just tallied up all my miles. Grand total for miles traveled by foot for recreation and training (running, walking, hiking) = 1013 miles. Out of that 50.9 miles shod in Soft Stars during the too-cold temps in January and February, 8.2 miles of walking during my nearly non-existent lunch break at work in Soft Stars, and out of my 40 mile hike I did in July, 3 miles were in Unshoes huaraches. For just my 'runs' I did 974 miles. So...

1013 miles total
950.9 miles barefoot
62.1 miles shod minimally

I entered a few races in '15, and despite lack of training, especially lack of race-training, I did pretty well and PR'd in all distances but the 1/2 marathon.
5k old 19:26 ('13), new 18:59
10k old 43:44 ('13), new 40:46
18.12mi first race at that distance, so PR by default, 02:15:23 but at that pace I actually bested my fastest 1/2 marathon too!

No marathon this year. After my previous marathons kind of hurt me (last one really strained my achilles) I told myself I would not enter another one unless I could adequately train for it. The 18.12 was probably more than I should of raced, and my same achilles did bother me for many days after.

2015 was my first full year of biking as well. I did it as secondary exercise to running. Just a little bit for commuting, since there really isn't much close enough to commute to via bike around here. 1150 miles total. All on my 'vintage' 80's Schwinn lightweight steel road/race bikes, and 99% barefoot.

2015 Bike mileage (yellow) also includes a tiny bit of xc ski (grey) and kayaking (blue)

Here are some of my favorite pics taken during my runs, bike rides, and races for '15:

I was shooting for 1500 mi but April and June were sucky months and I finished the year with only 1271 mi, 14 of them with VFF the rest barefoot.

Edit
I forgot to mention that my mileage doesn't include all the hiking I did:barefoot:

Finally broke the 500 mile barrier for running for the first time since I started running barefoot. Finished with a total of 567.9 miles logged in running and walking. 459.3 miles were barefoot.

As I barely ran from March to October, I think I can do a lot more, and I've set a goal of 750 running miles (with 1000 miles being a stretch goal).

I was pleasantly surprised to find I had run a total of 1082 full miles this year. It was also basically an injury free year for the first time in a while and I wasn't worrying too much about speed and distance goals. 774 of the miles were skin to ground, the others were minimalist. Can't help but wish I could log "dancing miles," because I know I put some significant time into that, mostly barefoot. :) And there was some hiking, but probably not more than 50 miles, partly inhibited by discovering I am much prone to altitude sickness at lower elevations than most other people.

I can't believe it's almost the end of February already :jaw drop:. I remembered about the annual mileage report and found the thread so I could post my totals, albeit a bit late :sorry:
In 2015, I ran a total of 1208.7 miles, walked/hiked at least 550 miles, and walked an unknown distance doing other activities, for a total of somewhere about 1800 miles - entirely barefoot :barefoot:. I rarely wear shoes, so my "minimal" mileage is fairly minimal, lol. My footwear of choice when required (certain stores, restaurants, etc) is my 4mm Connect XeroShoes. I also wore my VFF Komodo Sports a time or two, such as the Concealed Carry Course which required closed-toe shoes.
I ran a few races in 2015 including a couple half marathons, a 5K, a 20K trail race, and a Spartan Beast. All barefoot :D

Has everyone posted who wants to be listed in the 2015 Mileage Club? If not, please get 'er done! I will get to the certificates soon, hopefully.
