Diane went for a run at a shopping center parking lot yesterday by herself. A police officer stopped her for questioning and would not quit. He said someone had called in the barefoot lady running in the lot, so he responded. He wouldn't take her word for anything, had to show I.D. She said that she coaches the girls running club at her school and that several of them run barefoot with her. At his request she showed her school I.D. He said several times that it's "Not normal". At the end he told her she had to put her boots on which she had told him were in the trunk of her car. She was too flustered to get a name or badge number or anything. She told him a few times that her husband was active in the barefoot rights community, but not too much I can do with no real info. Clock boy is asking for $15 millon! Guess I'm glad she got no name, who needs the hassle. I should check the blotter, is that easy to do online for a normal (well....SEMI normal citizen?
BTW, the Girls on the Run 5K was supposed to take place last Sunday, it was cancelled due to the snow storm. Diane had fun as always coaching the girls, they were disappointed of course. Next session will be for Spring.

Good idea, Ahcuah.

Board, make sure Diane has her camera going next time. Then, file charges for harassment on him.

TJ, the odds of Diane having her iphone 6 on her at any given time is 50-50. The odds of it having a charge are another 50%. So we're starting out at a 25% chance. Then she's got to take it out and she'll see that she missed texts and calls from me as well as five others. By the time she remembers how to start the video rolling properly the cop will have even MORE reason to suspect her of something. He did, by the way, at one point ask her if she was on any drugs. We just finished a run together in the dry but heavily salt crystaled Walmart lot an hour ago. 12 inches of snow almost gone, but way to many salty puddles everywhere else.

I had a police car follow me for half a mile not so long ago, taking videos, but once they saw i was a serious runner, and not someone in distress, they were happy to leave my space with a thumbs up and a flash of the lights.
Personally, here in the U.K. i'm glad of a police presence, you can't have your cake and eat it, no system is perfect, or ever will be. There are douche bags in every profession and positions of power.

Police records are public which is how newspapers get their summary column. Start atbthe front desk and ask. I would call the police chief and request an appointment once I knew the officers name. Running is not probable cause. Don't mention the complaint when making the appointment, be vague, you want to discuss police support of your running group. Once there, it is your barefoot running group and mention the harassment.

Some people get a feeling of self importance from position in life and the feeling of authority.

That said, the cops I've run into said "oh like that guy on dual survival!" Sorry Diane had to deal with two losers in life (the phone in and the cop).

Yesterday we walked a block to our neighbor's for Thanksgiving Dinner. Diane and I walked there and back barefoot with no problems, our sons both wore shoes. One stayed a bit later than us, and was stopped by a cruiser on his way back! He was suspected of having broken in to an abandoned house in the neighborhood! It was only 9:00 pm but he was actually WALKING in a residential neighborhood! With no I.D.!
Fortunately he had no Skittles in his pocket and knew how to stay calm despite the situation (he's an airline pilot) and all went well. Wonder how the officer would have reacted had he detected the gun before the badge on a different day while stopping a pilot that is also a Federal Flight Deck Officer.
