Mileage Reporting 45th Week of 2014

Ran 5 miles in my Lunas over sharp gravel around the local resevior with hubby.

10:19!
It is not all that easy to run fast on loose, sharp gravel, even with sandals on! But I think it helped my form by making it necesaary to imitate floating. :)

1. you must always switch direction for at least one run in every 10 to restore balance to the universe. BALANCE, my boy.

2. That "mild" chipseal DID NOT make me cry, on accounta there was peoples watching me. I tried to quietly wince and run on the curb while the conversation went right along all casual-like. The one sissy girl delicate lady moment I experienced that day.
I wonder if running counterclockwise so much is what made the clocks go backwards Saturday night.

I see you've been linking running to Eastern philosophy/religion. I've always approached it as a zen practice, as best I can anyways.

Haha, delicate feet but a robust personality. A good combo. One has to learn to appreciate these surfaces for their massaging effect. In the dim light, I'm constantly stepping on little twigs and sharp little stones, and I likes it. It's just the ones that stick that annoy me.

Well, wet surfaces this morning near freezing, 21F windchill I think, so I didn't run, but I'll probably go this afternoon when the sun is supposed to shine. The streak is dead, long live the streak!
5K today. I agree with sced about changing direction. Yesterday I ran counterclockwise, and today I went clockwise and tomorrow will be counterclockwise etc. Some of the roads here have more of a camber then others so running the same direction can effect muscle development. IMO.

Dutchie, the river paths are flat across, no cambering, but there are few mild incline/declines. Someday I'll have to man up and seek out some real hills, but for the moment, having easy terrain has helped established the daily habit.

Hey all, not been able to get on much but last night did my coldest barefoot run. 5km. Annoyed because there's some blisters this morning :-S I'm very slow too. :-( last 2 5km have been ten minutes slower than my norm.

We all go through things like this as we adapt and learn. It will come. Don't give into temptation to overdo it when your feet need some time to heal and recover. I recommend you try not to "worry" about being "slow", but just think about enjoying the sensation of running! :) I am having loads of fun since I basically switched to this mindset.

Nice 8 mile run at 5:00 am 48 deg. 93 % rh.
I saw a lot of rabbits around the collage loop on this run (some shoot across the trail a few feet in front of me and there is no light)(Just the bright moon)
Almost home and I was taking a sip of a drink I took along when I spotted 2 ducks flying over head.
Laura I too am working on trying to enjoy the sensation of running more.
I am also working on relaxing more on the first 2 miles of any run.

Thursday - ALL day Christmas shopping with daughter who is in town. In Lunas due to cold morning temps and feeling wimpy about conflict with so many stores we were going to go into.

Friday - Barefoot run on a variety of asphalt, 6 miles with child #6, talking about all manner of things a college student needs to talk about.

Saturday - Barefoot Around the Ponds day was a success! Helped get a couple of friends/family members started on really trying bare feet, some walking, some running. Went about 5 miles all together myself: 2 miles pushing granddaughter in umbrella stroller (I missed my arm motion!), about 1/2 mile walking encouraging friend.
- after a quick lunch, swam 20 minutes non-stop

A couple of cold runs this weekend. Yesterday was about 5k at a windchill adjusted temp of -13C, and today was another 5k with a windchill adjusted temp of -14C in a light snow flurry. The snow was blowing around and not really sticking to the road so that made the run doable BF. Had my backup Sockwa's rolled up in my pocket as a backup though but they were not needed. No frostbite or frostnip, got to stay away from those penalty miles. ;) I think I have reached my temperature limit for 5k runs though, I might go lower but for shorter distances as long as the snow stays away. :coldfeet: On a quick side note the air temp was a little higher yesterday then today. I found yesterday's run more comfortable then today even though the windchill were about the same.

12 miles easy pace. I unintentionally bumped into the last leg of the Druid three day ultra, on the same trail but going the opposite direction. Got pulled over by a couple of the runners who wanted a picture of the mad, hairy. barefoot guy, i've never felt so embarrassed, and also maybe a little bit flattered. :)
All in all a good run. Here's a pic of the road up to the ridge i run, i'd come from the town in the distance.

Most excellent 16.75 mile run at 5:00 45 deg. f. 71 %rh.
I tried one of my favorite paths counter clockwise (weird).
This reversal took me to the collage loop at mile 2. I was headed for the trail, up and over a large berm and when I got to the top I was shocked to see hundreds of tents, tables, porti-cans and one or two women brushing there teeth.
I found out it way a 3 day walk for breast cancer.
Clear skies big bright Moon.
Even after sunrise I was tracking the moon to the west (I don't know why I think this Is weird and cool at the same time).
Last run of the week of 11-3-14 through 11-9-14. Total Miles 34.
I agree with rick fun to run barefoot!!

Not much on the clock for me last week. Did a ~7 miler Friday and was treated to some lovely fall weather. Cloudy skies but still lots of sun shining through and made a couple nice pictures on the cell phone.

Most all the fields around have been recently harvested leaving a field of golden stubble. Everywhere you look.

Felt great on the run, was only going to do ~6 but stretched it out a little. Just took it slow since the last 7 miler bothered the issues in my feet again. No issues during the run but the next morning it flared all back up again, and this time it stuck around for a few days  not really bad but I could feel it over the whole weekend. Especially first thing in the morning. Going to back off to couple-mile runs I guess for the next few and see how it goes.
