Mileage reporting 22nd week 2014

My
My husband tried his new Luna sandals for fishing last weekend, thinking his feet might be cooler, but found they caught too much in the river muck. Next time it will be the VFF again.
Ya I love sandals for most everything, but mud and muck are their kryptonite. I am in the process still of coming up with a sandal design that will work in that stuff, but I'm sure they too will have their own unique flaws.

Wow, woke up this morning a bit stiff and sore. Mostly in my lower back and upper body, but also a bit in my ankles. I have a buddy that I ran the race with yesterday and out of the 4 different obstacle courses he's ran this year, this was definitely the most difficult one he has done. I think next year we may be doing a team for the tough mudder. That may cut into my running money though as next year there are a couple 50k's I am looking at for my first baby ultra. Anyhow, the vff speeds I used yesterday had plenty of traction for most of the run, but I ran probably 3/4 of the race with my two most outside toes on each foot out of the toe pockets. Once the vffs got wet and muddy and I started hitting into obstacles those toes kept popping out. I tried fixing them the first couple times but they kept popping out so I said to hell with it and just ran like that. I found that running on a ton of gravel was no problem in them, but the sparse gravel hurt like hell. I was also told I am a much better runner and much faster than I give myself credit for. My friends that I ran the race with were pretty impressed which was kind of an ego boost. :)

thursday night: short swim
friday: weights, some bf strolling
saturday:
morning 10 mi leisurely bike ride(first time out in a while),
some weights
afternoon brisk hike w/ kids in moc3s (hot but good protection for the rocky/stick/paths), about 4 mi
evening swim, starting to get tired, managed under an hour with breaks.
relaxing outside for the rest of the night

love this weather

Biked an hour each day to get to school.
Sat- studied and tried to get to bed early but a certain redhead felt the need to text me that she wasn't drunk. Great.

LOL! You see, I warned him that it was "drunk text" night, cuz there was about to be drinking at my neighbors. Lol! But, I didn't get that drunk, and was kind of sad that I didn't get to "drunk text" him, like usual. So I sent him a "non-drunk" text (before 10 p.m.) -wrongly thinking that was a safe time. Lol! What he does NOT realize is that if I HAD gotten drunk, he would have received like TEN texts between midnight and 5 a.m. So he "should" consider himself lucky! :p

12 mile run at 6:00 am., 72 deg. 95% rh...
Saw rabbits, geese, ducks, some other water fowl (maybe egret).
last run of the week for me. Total miles 27.
Feeling good!!

Thursday - Unplanned trail race in St Louis with Missouri runner flipngrip, ran it shod in Altra Samsons due to the rocky nature of part of trail sections...around 4 miles total with warming up.

Saturday - 1 hour gravel running and 1 mile cooldown walk on Katy trail in Missouri...a bit of mid-day heat training in the low 80's plus testing Sockwa G4's...both 2nd toes a tiny bit sore afterwards but pretty good overall.

Sunday - Suwanee Creek Parkway, 11 miles pavement with a couple other Georgia runners...pretty warm conditions borderline heat training.

Tuesday - 2 hour barefoot hike plus a small amount of running...exploring Ivy Creek Greenway in an undeveloped section that the county park system is going to develope...wanted to see what it was like before the county "improved it"....pretty nice and rough, very over grown and too thick to run in proper but nice for hiking...no real trails here just bush whacking mostly.
I grew up in Suwanee. Never barefooted the park though. Looking for some good trails around that area. My next hike is Sawnee mountain preserve in Forsyth county

Wow an oldie, I don't often get to use this pic...
