I start the week with a blast, 13.7km/8.5mi. Legs were very relaxed and they sprang nicely into action. I am not sure if it's the painkiller effect (had to take one for my headache this morning), but I had no pain at all in my ankle and groin. I'll see tomorrow :oldman::nailbiting:

I ran the Hot Chocolate 5k in Atlanta (per my Garmin, it was 3.26 miles). I'm going to do a race report but this was probably one of the worse races I've done simply due to the sheer number if people running (over 11000). I loved the course though. I've read enough books acceded posts about the proper way to run down a hill that I sat back and just glided downhill with no effort.

nick, i used to put my salad in the blend for ease of eating. just chew a little to wake up the intestines. seriously.

i knew i should've posted here! man.

m-lifted weights. pushups during class along with whatever i could get away with on the stairs. like rolling my hammies and calve raises, tib posterior raises. damn, didn't do tib anterior.

haha!
um, don't you stretch in public?? :jaw drop:.
Yah, but stretching = limber ballet/yoga harmless dude = desirable neighbor
grunting while lifting = potential macho/psycho dude = undesirable.

Speaking of lifting, I finally motivated to do one of my ST routines first thing this morning. Yippee. Did another yesterday afternoon, so hopefully I'm back on the bandwagon. Definitely less energy to lift right after I wake up, but hopefully I'll adapt within a week or two and start getting in some good pumps. Feels great to be sore, makes me want to run. I'll try to get in some box jumps and medicine ball stuff for brunch.

Temp this morning = -14F but the wind has died down, so almost no windchill. Still, schools closed for the fifth time this month. I kinda like the alien atmosphere transformation--sounds are louder and clearer, hands start to freeze the minute you take the gloves off, and roads are invisibly slick--hard to believe all this will be lush green in a few more months.

No runs so far this week. Sunday just hung out with family and shoveled. Monday had to chauffeur everyone, today I have errands, so no run-commutes. Should be 20F tomorrow, will try to get 5-6 miles of bfr in.
is this the right week? 3 pages in for a tuesday seems like a lot. maybe i'm not that awake.
Ya think?

Great chilly 3.5 mile run at 5:00 am. 25 deg. f. 15 deg wind chill.
broke out the Vivobarefoot Evo's for this run (first shod run in quite some time).
I feel the ground pretty good with them but I love running barefoot.
Gearing up for a trip to Crested Butte Colorado. (usually pretty chilly there this time of year)

Oh man, I don't think I could do that Mike. Total texture thing. Just because I bring something faster and easier doesnt mean it has to be unhealthy. Ive lost 2 lbs in a week while barely trying. I think I have a serious problem of not knowing how to nourish my body properly when I run a lot, which I think throws me into my body thinking its in starvation mode and saving everything it can. Since just watching diet and only since Saturday adding back in running my body seems to really like it. Hopefully my short runs during the week wont throw my body back into starvation mode. Seems a fine line I have yet to master between under nourishment and just low enough intake to lose weight. In any case, glad to hear it sounds like you may be on the road to recovery yourself with your pf issues. Hope the ST helps you out.

BL,

let me throw you a little bone then to see if it helps you feel better. i'm developing calluses on my feet under the middle met heads. at first it was on my right and now my left. i would say it's from shoes but i think i noticed it under my right just a few months ago. damn. hopefully this strenght training and new form will help that. i got rid of the calluses that were there before so i'm sure i can do it again.

today i was going to try to run but it's so damn windy at my school i decided not to. i hit the heavy bag with an attempt to stay at my maf pace. i then did about 4 sprinting laps around the gym.

good job Nick. on everything.

I got myself a very good and very very hard job in a winter skiing resort. I rent out skis and equipment. It's great. I stand and walk and carry things for 6 to 12 hours a day. My feet are killing me. I'm not used to it. I haven't done anything else. When I've been off work I've been lying down :D . So no runs or walks to write about, but I do get a lot of endurance training out of this. Today is a shorter day (6 hours) so I'll go to the gym and get a workout in. Need to work to keep my muscles.

Another nice and smooth 12.3km/7.6mi today. Also doing the 30/30 squat challenge (30 days / 30' per day) (https://www.facebook.com/groups/30squat/). I started doing these squats at MovNat, and was not able to hold more than 2 minutes....Now after 2 days I have done one 15' session and one 10' session...Getting close !

A friend of mine used to do that. A nonstop day of exercise every day! Extra pay is the view, right?

Tuesday - 5 miles in my Sockwas. Was grateful my left calf handled it fine after the scare about 10 days ago of feeling like something really wanted to pull. Can't decide if it was still recuperating from the illness or running " tightly" due to cold and pre-travel adrenaline. Anyway, it made me decide to wear the Sockwas for the 30 degrees because I did't want to risk running to "tight". again teying to keep warm. I am trying very hard to be patient with getting my mileage back up. It was going so well before I got that flu thing right before Christmas.

Wednsday. - Buckets and buckets of freezing rain so I was happy to ride the spin bike. 60 minutes, but something must have been set a little harde because I was all the way done after that 60 minutes!

The weather might be dry with temps around 40 at noon tomorrow, so I am guardedly hopeful for a barefoot run. You all know about weather reports...

Its great to hear how everyone is doing!
