I was so excited this morning.... I did my longest barefoot run yet, 3.75 miles! It was funny to me to be so excited about that; my longest shod run was over 5 miles further than that. But it's taken me over 2 months to build up to this distance, so it was awesome. It was far enough to give me that wonderful post-run high. And there's just something about that 5K+ distance...getting closer to 5 miles...that gives me more confidence for building up to a half marathon.

Part of the reason I was so thrilled was because I've been having some IT band/quad/knee issues, and thanks to a long session on the foam roller before the run, I was FINE. I ws getting concerned about the pain (thanks to a rough run on Thursday when I forgot to use the foam roller first), so I needed this great run today.

woot! woot! Nice job C.!

woot! woot! Nice job C.! Feels great to reach new barefoot milestones, keep up the good work and listen to that IT band when it yells at you.

Awesome, Beth!  Soon, 3

Awesome, Beth! Soon, 3 becomes 5, then 5 becomes 10, then 10 becomes 13.1!

Awesome, congratulations

Awesome, congratulations Beth!

IT band troubles are a pain

IT band troubles are a pain C.Beth. I'm just getting over them myself. Down from marathon distance to under six miles for the past couple of months. Just stick with what works, don't force anything, and keep on plugging. Good work!

Thanks, saypay! My trusty

Thanks, saypay! My trusty foam roller has done the trick, and the IT band seems to be fine now. I think I caught it really quickly this time since I knew the signs. Hopefully it'll stay relaxed!

 Congrats! In shoes, I would

Congrats! In shoes, I would go out for a casual run around 6 - 8 miles, and now barefoot it is about 2 - 4 miles. You will be up to 10 in no time. Once you break the 3 mile barrier, everything else just comes flying fast!
