no not that much anymore. Was so tempted to go out for just a short run today, but I was good and didn't. Tried a bit here at home and felt that I wasn't completely ready yet..

swim: 1hrplus about 15min or so. My throat is sore, I'm achy, sneezy, congested, summer cold? what? yuck. Anyhow, I still managed an opening set of 54 continuous laps: thats 1.5 mi, right? It was slow, but felt fine with no breaks. Kicked and pulled after that, then thought I could do some kind of "brick" thing cuz I thought I was feeling better.

run: tried it right after a snack and the swim, but it wasn't happening. Outside the hot stuffy pool room, my wheezy congestion and aches got the better of me. Ran about 2 mi total of 3 mi, but it was barely moving and shouldn't count.

gym: oddly, in the million degree sweaty gym, I was able to do a light st and some abs no problem, only a little dragging. about 40 min. Hey, maybe I even sweat it out?

Trying to heal myself now with some liquid carbs.

Hahahaha, the shoe fit din't it:p
Must have, because I just knew you were talking about me.

Oh and if anyone wonders why I am not posting anything this week it's NOT because of an injury, it's just a scheduled break from exercise. My body was telling me it was needing a break so just taking a week off before I end up over training and end up with an injury. I am starting to go a little stir crazy though so it may be hard to make it till Monday with no exercise. Maybe I will sneak in a little run tomorrow or Saturday....

Smart, very smart
and in case nobody has noticed I have done shoot this week either well because I've being laaaaaazy.
but really, the last three days I have being feeling yucky, I think I caught Lee's malaria symptoms.

MONDAY
1hr run, slow and easy. Takes me up and over a nice railway bridge that makes for a useful hill substitute. Down to the river and back.

TUESDAY
2x25 min cycle to work. Fast as my 20year old ridgeback and 40 year old legs will take me in Berlin traffic.

WEDNESDAY
As Tuesday, plus 1hr swim. Mostly front crawl drills - I'm just learning and on this day I strung together 3-4 breaths for the first time. Not bad after almost 2 months away from the pool.

THURSDAY
1hr run. Evening. Thought I'd give the neighborhood wags something to wolf whistle at and pulled on my new tri suit. Not that I've ever "tri-ed" before, but that's my next big goal and the suit was on sale, so...

FRIDAY
It'll be 2x25 mins cycle to work again, and stretching. If I type it here in advance, I'll have to do it!

Always impressed what you all are doing: big motivation.

This morning it was raining cats, dogs, hippos, elephants and brontosauruses. So I waited til I got home, but it was still wet on the roads, and I decided it would be better to protect my feet from blistering and wear the Xeros. Just a short half-mile today, move the legs and tune'em up for Saturday when I will look to do 1.25 miles or so.

I don't know if it was because my legs were still tired a bit from Tuesday or if it was because of the Xeros, but it felt like my cadence was slower and I had real trouble picking it up. I also greatly missed the feel of the chip-seal road and it almost felt like I couldn't make my feet turn over so quick because they weren't communicating with the road. Still, it was a good run, but it makes me realize even more just how awesome truly barefoot running can be.

I know exactly what you mean.

Yep, gonna have to go run today. When I wake up after less than 4 hours of sleep and am wide awake my body is telling me I need exercise again. Can't wait to get out there again for a nice easy run. Now I gotta wait like 5 hours for the little boy to wake up and have breakfast... Sucks waking up early.

Oh I forgot to mention the other night while driving to school I saw a man running fairly close to where I live (mile and a half or so away) in some sort of huarache type of sandals. I don't recognize the person from here so I wonder if he knows about the brs? I would guess he was in his 40's or 50's judging from the gray beard. Anyhow, I've never seen anyone out by me running in sandals before so thought it was interesting.

Sorry to hear that. Empathetic pseudo-malaria. No real cure for that.

Butt seriously, I'm mostly over it, but still with lower energy levels and a lingering sore throat.
Let myself run 4 miles just now. Really concentrated on the the light and springy. Seems to have made a difference. Even though I can still feel my knee some throughout the day, I didn't feel it at all while running. I could tell I haven't been running as much lately, but my splits weren't too bad for me.

I played the mental game by dressing like (an older) Lara Croft, sort of, so will change my profile photo to reflect this mindset.
Looking good Grandma Laura Croft! And glad to hear the knee rehab is going well.

Road had dried out overnight and while I walked this morning, I couldn't help breaking into an easy run for a quarter mile of it. Feet definitely liked the sensation of the road again, and it felt like the legs had better cadence and the feet weren't sticking to the ground like they felt some in the sandals yesterday afternoon.

Taking a rest today. Was supposed to be a swim day. However, I've been learning the butterfly and the upper body was still sore. Was a bit tired too, so went back to bed for an hour before work. That's ok, as I'm sure that my body will be ready to go tomorrow.

Also, been trying to figure out how to schedule in the upper body strength training. It's similar to when I was running more and trying to figure out when to schedule the leg workouts.

Ideally, I'd run and work the legs, while I'm resting the upper body, and vice versa. Though with the Florida heat, the indoor pool is a nicer place to be.

I'm starting to become proficient in swimming, so it's likely that I'll need to move on to a new activity in a few more months.
