Yes, I thought exactly the same thing - that's why I noticed the thread. But at the moment the only shoes I can walk in with no pain are my VFFs, maybe because they are stiff enough to hold my toes apart.
 
Before I had surgeries for Morton's Neuroma, I couldn't wear my VFFs for more than 20 minutes before they would hurt so bad. Now I can wear them for quite a while longer, although my other foot condition prevents me from wearing them longer. I think the toe compartments in the VFFs are acting like a splint for you. These FreeHeels, though, will get you closer to barefoot running.
