New Luna Ribbon Laces?

No not those, those seem cool as well but these below. They seem like nylon or something like that.

Hi Adam, Luna says that the ribbon is the same ribbon they attach to the plug in the ATS lacing. Well, I had the original ATS sandal and they have changed the laces a bit since then, but if they still use the same ribbon as they did then, then I bought some just like that at a local JoAnn Fabrics and it worked great, until it got broken in. Once broken in I started having problems with the heel strap falling down. I am contemplating just ordering some of their ribbon to see if it is the same stuff because I seem to think they may have changed the ribbon material to something slightly more stout. If it's just a bit more stout you won't have the problem of the heel strap falling down.

I think Pat Sweeney ran Boston in a pair with the ribbon laces. He was raving about how great they are when he was here.
I saw that he really likes them and I used his lacing method for them as well that is on a youtube video on Lunas site. It really secures the sandal to the foot very well...

I'm thinking of ordering a pair with the new Ribbon as well. Currently I have a pair of 18 month old Lunas with the Equus Elastic Laces and I still love them. A few months ago I tried the ATS system, but the buckle based systems haven't worked for me yet. Traditional lacing has worked before though, so this might be a nice option. You think it would be easy to find shoes, when all you are buying is sandals right?

Let me preface this by saying I've only ever run in Lunas with the ATS laces prior to today.

I used the new ribbon laces today. I'm not a big fan. The material is very comfortable, but is so slick, they kept moving around and coming loose, no matter what I tried. I'm definitely not a fan.

Maybe someone with more experience in tying the laces would fare better.

Hey PB, did you try this tying method I am linking below? It seems to be the only method I've found that really works pretty well with this ribbon.

I thought I used that technique, but in watching the video again, I see I missed the last loop through the ankle strap. I think I need to try it again when I have time to watch the video while I'm lacing them.

Thanks, Nick!

I tried my ribbon laces again today. I laced them while watching the Pat Sweeney video for reference.

SUCCESS!!! It took me awhile to get the right tension and technique, but I got it. Went for a short run, and I must say, the ribbon laces were VERY comfortable.

I'm going to stick with my ATS laces for my HM on Saturday, but only because I haven't had a chance to run long in the ribbon laces.

Thanks again, Nick (and Bourbonfeet)!

I'm glad I was able to help someone out. Ya, I've found with those ribbon laces if you don't follow Pat Sweeneys exact tying method I have lot's of problems with them. I've also found with his method that the sandals are much more secure than any other lacing method I've ever used (including the ats).

I received my new Lunas last week, and they are pretty comfortable. I am having a little trouble with the 1st heel crossing on one of my feet, but hopefully a little more tying with that dialed in. I prefer them over the ATS style for sure, but the ATS style (or any buckle system) just don't work for me. One note I have is that it takes forever to tie these things!
