Rocky Raccoon 2014 - 100 Miles or Bust

Yeah, I'll be signing up early. It will sell out super fast, but I've had to back out of TT races before and Joe has always offered a refund.

Doom and I are in. I had a lot of fun camping out with the bums from this site a couple of years ago for the 50 mile and look forward to doing it all over for the 100 miler.

This is going to be great. For a couple of reasons, I have taken down most of my old blog posts so the entire thing will be about my coming back from injury and training for my first 100. Hopefully it will end up being something others can look at if I am successful and I guess even if I am not...

This should be a good time. And while I don't plan on setting any record, I am no longer going into races with the "I just want to finish" mindset. I want to finish knowing I gave it my all and that was as fast I as I could run that course.

That would be awesome! I wonder what the FKT is for a Texan?

I'm not sure what I'm going to do for training, probably just try and stay healthy b/w Cactus Rose 100 and RR. Also, try not to get fat over Christmas break!

Just got back. Unbelievable trip and everything was perfect. Being from Texas you would certainly have advantage in the heat. I'm a cold weather guy so I did my journey at night. I have no idea on training every one is different, but for me, hills, hills, hills, did I mention hills, and hills at altitude was the key for me. Also getting rid of most of my winter fat helped.

This year that heat advantage might not be there. It has been really mild around my parts for most of the season. All of a sudden we had a hot and HUMID weekend last week and it zapped me... and my running buddy. Also we were getting a lot of smoke from fires in Mexico in Austin. The entire area looked like... Dallas or something (Dallas is covered in smog, Austin is not).

Austin wishes it could be Dallas! I wouldn't wipe my.... with Austin.

Dallas is garbage. I never hear anyone ever saying they want to move to that stinkhole. If you tell someone from out of state that you are from Dallas they say something about the ridiculous show. If you tell somoene that you are from Austin, they tell you what a great place Austin is and how they would love to live there.

But I could see how you think it is a decent place coming from the steaming pile of poo that is Louisiana.

Man, everyone knows Beaumont is the place to be!

... Too bad I'm moving to Conroe.

Back on topic. I didn't register. I've been busy remodeling the house in order to sell it, so all training had been set aside. But as soon as we move I plan on coming back full force.

I might ask Joe about getting on the waiting list for the 100 and registering for the 50 if its still open.

3 months until race day. I'm still thinking about the 50, training hasn't been going like I had planned, but I should be able to be ready for a 50 by then.... Maybe.

Who is still in and who is out?
