What beer are you drinking tonight? For the new forum...

Yeah I sampled all of them and now have a half full box of all the second ones I have to try and finish lol (my wife bought the hopology for me a couple weeks ago). A couple were ok... I don't really care for wheat ales much at all but the Whitewater was an interesting mix that made it drinkable and the Grumpy Monk both times I've had it now has been after a long hard day of work and it seems to be refreshing. The rest I'd give away if I knew someone that would want em.

Lol about giving them away, I now have roughly 16 to go I'd probably do the same. I'm going to work through the pack again and try to be less jaded. They seem to be overly alcoholic without the necessary flavor?

Ok, so I tried a new beer tonight (new to me that is), and wow, there's not many beers that make me annoy my wife by constantly commenting how good it is, and this is one of those. Wow, fantastic! I now have to go downtown Portland so I can try it on tap at their brewery. The beer is made by Alameda Brewing Co. and is called Yellow Wolf. This is a fantastic dark amber low carbonation Imperial IPA that I am absolutely in love with. You do have to be careful when pouring out of the bottle as their is a little sediment near the bottom, but it was not bad enough to ick me out or anything. It's got 8.2% ABV and over 100 IBU. This beer is nearly on par with my favorite beer made by Walking Man Brewery called Homo Erectus.

Sounds awesome nick. Very few of the beers y'all have there make it over here, at least to the places I normally go.
You know, a lot of the beer out your way doesn't make it out here either. At least not to any of the places I go to. It all depends on what kind of beer you like too, I really like the type of beer that has a bit of a grapefruity/caramel/toffee flavor that is low on the carbonation with high alcohol and high IBU. I like a well balanced beer and I don't like them to be too strong for citrus either. It's funny, last night I was reading on two different sites that review beer and they had wildly different opinions on those two beers I mentioned above, despite them being very similar to each other with very similar taste and smell. They rated the Homo Erectus as very excellent while the Yellow Wolf was just good. I wonder if the reviewers couldn't get over the sediment and so rated it lower even though the tastes are so similar? Anyhow, I guess you can tell that I like my beer a little bit, although I really don't drink a lot (I realize it probably seems like I drink a lot with all these different beers I mention and write about, but I maybe drink 3-4 times a week and no more than 1 ea 22 ouncer at a time. I'm not a very good drunk so I don't like to drink to get drunk.).

I forgot to mention, this hopology pack you all talk about, I can't find it here... Weird because we have Samy Adams here, and a couple of the other brews they make but I just can't find this mysterious hopology pack.

Ok so tonight I am drinking another Lagunitas beer as I promised myself I would give them another shot since everyone here seems to like them. This time I tried the Wilco Tango Foxtrot. I must say, I am still less than impressed with the quality of the beer. Every single one I have tried now, 3-4 different types of their beers, has had the taste of rubbing alcohol, whether subtly or strongly. This particular one is very strong with that flavor and it is taking everything I have to drink it. It's not the alcohol content, as this is lower than the beer I typically get as this only in the mid 7% range. I think I would like it if it wasn't for that funky rubbing alcohol flavor. I took a picture but I am too lazy to try to upload it for you all right now (Iph pics aren't easy to upload as I have to mess with it to get the website to accept it). I will add it a little later.

Ok here is that picture of the Lagunitas Wilco Tango Foxtrot (WTF). Really struggling still to get through this first pint. It really seems to hit the back of my tongue with an intense flavor that lasts for a long time, reminiscent of drinking hard alcohol. I've read a ton of reviews that say this beer is great, but man I just can't get over this strong alcohol flavor. I recently read an article about people that are called super tasters. I'm seriously wondering if that is my problem with a lot of foods that so many people like that I don't. Makes me wonder if that is why I don't like certain beer that is rated super high (much like this Lagunitas beer). Anyhow, here's that picture.

Last night I had a couple of Ninkasi's Tricerahops Double IPA, Ninkasi IPA, a whole raft of small tasters, most of these tasters I wasn't so fond of but one of them was the Lompoc Red that Lomad mentioned and that wasnt bad.

Last night here in Louisiana, found a place with lots of selection, going to try to bring some home in my check in luggage. Grabbed a cold one for use now - trying the Green Flash West Coast IPA. Me likes... A lot ;-)

Had a great run today at lunch. Was feeing great, and shaved almost 10 minutes off of my 5 mile time. All of the stars must've aligned or something. Anyway, a buddy gave me a six of Devil's Backbone (Lexington, VA) Eight Point IPA and I am enjoying one right now. Really nice beer, and only 177 calories to boot. That'll give me room for another.

Was walking my Newfie this morning and the laces on my Xeros snapped. Walked the rest of the way in the neighborhood totally barefoot (about 1 mile). Felt awesome, so I'm rewarding myself with some bourbon - Basil Haydens. DEEEEEELICIOUS

Stone's Cali-Belgique IPA. First time having it, found it on my last trip. Figured I deserved one of my big bottles after my long run today.

Sorry, too much foam, poured it straight down with my other hand messing with camera settings.

Whats with the 4 paragraphs of 6 point font on the back of all the Stone ales anyhow, don't they know that is hard to read after 22 oz (or more :wacky:).
