Had a couple pics so thought I'd post em up... not really much to report on the race so figured I'd use the Picture section.

Thats Amber and myself, she ran 55:45 for her second (and fastest) 10k, and placed first in her age group. I have not been able to bring her to the darkside, even though her weiner dog tried to help by destroying her new running shoes the night before the race (the ones there are actually pretty old)!

I was sporting my old BRS shirt, lost of comments on this race, all pretty positive!

Once again it was nearly too cold to run barefoot. Was around 37F for the race. I can go mid 30's is about all, and for a race when I know I'm going to be a little distracted and not concentrating as much on form I don't like to be so close to going numb. But I decided to go for it. At first they were a bit cold, but warmed up fine after about a mile. Not sure if that had anything to do with the extra wear on my soles (below).

My photobucket account is on the fritz, not sure if its them or this laptop but I'm just going to attach the others below...

My first plaque! One advantage of a small race. ;)

Myself an Amber on the stats. Those two guys ahead of me were in a different league!

And finally the carnage, the day after. I did an easy 3 miles today just to stretch the legs back out. Feet are pretty sensative. It looks worse than it is, I was just in the spa here at the hotel for about 10 minutes and the worn areas turned really white. But it made it stand out enough to show up well in a pic so I took one. The skin is pretty thin there, around it you can feel it gets much thicker. Also got a little blister in the middle of the old blister I had on the toe... might be pushing off or something, will have to really try and pay attention to my form going forward. Little spot on my heel too, I don't have that on the other foot, but the forefoot pads are pretty identical between my two feet.

Awesome time! great job. I like the 2 guys finished, then it's almost 10 minutes later for third place. :)
Yeah they were 8 minutes ahead of me, and probably started at the front of the pac so even further since I started past the middle. I never even saw them, well except at the turn around point. The #1 gal finisher though I was catching near the end, maybe a hundred yards behind, and then she picked up the pace and I never got any closer. She must have been in the front too since we ended up only being 2 seconds apart.

Congrats Tristan! Awesome times.
There is a very interesting wear pattern on you feet-high on your forefoot. Is it the pattern always white like that or was it the cold weather? Do you have a high bounce stride?
Sorry too many questions.

Thanks! The white was mainly because I just came out of the hot tub... The area does have a slightly lighter color usually but not to that extreme. Not sure about bounce, I don't think so but it's hard for me to tell myself. Been meaning to take some video, got to do that sometime. I'm sure my form isn't at it's best during a race (which I'm sure is when it needs to be at its best) and cold temps hurt my form even more. One more race in the 30's this Sunday, and hopefully that's it for the cold weather! I'm so over it.

Same here, well not exactly my form but my muscles don't seem to want to move very well on colder temps I notice that when the weather is warm to my liking I can pick up my speed relatinvely fast from the get go no need for a slow warm up mile.
Good luck on your race and don't think so much on form while racing just give it your all:barefoot:
