What beer are you drinking tonight? For the new forum...

Thanks Chris,
Been there, survived, but it just wasn't the same.
Something about that Mad Dog that really gets those after dinner songs cookin'!
Try to enjoy just the same.
Now Purim or Simchat Torah without adult beverage? THAT'S sacrilege!

Drinking a Seven Brides Brewing Frankenlou's IPA. Not bad, but a little different from what I'm used to. More of a florally hops flavor than what I normally like, but still pretty good. It's a pretty dark IPA too as you can see from the picture. It has about 7% alcohol content and is yet another beer out of Oregon. I also have a Lompoc Imperial Pale Ale lined up for sometime later this week. Pretty excited for that one as a buddy of mine says it's amazing.

Last night: Saranac Big Moose Ale with dinner. Nothing fantastic but I like it.

Also have the Sam Adams Hopology sampler pack I'll be going through. Later last night watched a movie and had the SA Latitude 48 IPA. I wasnt terribly thrilled about it.

So had the day to myself today... and of course that means a few beers were had. :wacky: Well I earned them though, got plenty of stuff done including about 4-5 hours of sawing up some logs, and splitting by axe. Plus I've dropped almost 10 pounds in the last month, figured I needed some more carbs!

For lunch I had a nice light 4% Stone Levitation.

After my afternoon work, I relaxed a little with a Sam Adams Grumpy Monk....

This actually seemed pretty nice... crisp and refreshing after some hard work.

Then it was into the kitchen to clean up a bit and start working on one of my favorites... pizza!

I was planning on making it out of all local amish whole grain wheat flour but I only had two cups and I was going to use 3 for the quantity of dough I was making so 2/3 organic whole grain and 1/3 store bought bread flour. Everything else but the cheese and onions were homegrown too... pizza sauce, pickled banana peppers, venison italian sausage. I used a bit of honey in the crust too, raw wildflower honey from a neighbor. Oh I think I was still working on that Grumpy Monk too.

Grilled... my favorite way (at least until I get that wood fired brick pizza oven someday). I make the crust oblong and turn the burners on each end on for indirect heat.

Tried out the Third Voyage Double IPA with my pizza. It was alright (the beer I mean, the pizza was great ;)).

And lastly, sat down for a movie after dinner, decided on the Dark Depths. It was ok. And here is the lineup from the whole day. And I'm barely feeling anything. Well time to sign off, got some work to do in the morning, oh and run.

Used my hard earned Shamrock Run beer glass for all my beers today. Cheers!

Had the last untried beer from my SA sampler, the Tasman Red IPA. It was ok, but time to stop foolin' around. Broke out my last Oaked Arrogant Bastard. Fantastic. Its on my short list of favorite beers of all times.

Really jealous of the oaked arrogant bastard. Really really jealous... Can't find it around here. I love the regular Arrogant Bastard but was not sold on the smoked arrogant bastard. I really want to try to Double Bastard and this Oaked one. I guess I shouldn't be jealous because I have so many great beers here to choose from.

Today I had a couple of Widmer Nelson Imperial IPA's and now I am drinking an Alpha Dog Imperial IPA. My brother in law and my father in law had never had Imperial IPA's before and they both really liked the Widmer Nelson Imperials. I like it too, but there are better Imperial IPA's out there like this Alpha Dog. Wow, this is my first time having the Alpha Dog and I really like it a lot. It is 8.5% ABV and is out of Idaho.

Haven't seen the smoked one yet myself. I really like the Oaked AB but I'm sure its not for everyone. Its a bit mellower than regular AB but a bit darker and with hints of oak and vanilla. Less carbonation and less head but probably due to the extra aging. But don't take my work I'm terrible at interpreting flavors. I just hope I can get more of it!

Had their Ruination IPA tonight... its good too- a lot better than their regular IPA - but I think I enjoy AB a little more.

Sun sets here in Cocoa Beach at 7:41. I'm thinking maybe Yuengling. Or maybe a local Micro. Or maybe whatever I can grab the quickest. It's been a long week!

Up to the camp this weekend, got up here early afternoon and worked since cutting up firewood. Had a Sam Adams Grumpy Monk with dinner, and now I'm chillin with a new one for me, Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger. I'm really digging this, havent had too many rye IPAs but this is a notch above SN Ruthless Rye imho. Top notch for ryes so far for me.

I picked up a hopology case from Costco. Thought I should give it another try. Trying to keep an open mind but I'm not really enjoying it. Some are borderline bad, wishing I went with the classic 30 pack of pbr.

Don't worry - you'll soon be in a land with a different interpretation for beer!

Yeah I sampled all of them and now have a half full box of all the second ones I have to try and finish lol (my wife bought the hopology for me a couple weeks ago). A couple were ok... I don't really care for wheat ales much at all but the Whitewater was an interesting mix that made it drinkable and the Grumpy Monk both times I've had it now has been after a long hard day of work and it seems to be refreshing. The rest I'd give away if I knew someone that would want em.
