Hi Folks,
I feel like the fourth stooge sometimes. Went on a 25km run today, wearing a cap which I don't usually do. I had to cross under a series of concrete bridges about 10km into the run, you have to stoop slightly to get under them. I navigated the first one fine, then in the process if hitching my shorts, Ididn't pay attention as to how close the other bridge was approaching as I as looking down and the visor blocked any forward vision. Well, I smack my forehead into the bridge...giving myself a blackeye and chipped tooth...expensive run, have to see the dentist next week..what an experience.

Still finished the 25km though...my wife thought I got mugged along the way.lol

Anyone else had any funny or unfortunate incidences happen to them too...

Haha you remind me of myself a little, especially the finish the run and laugh about it afterwards part :D

Scroll through the Week 7 mileage reporting thread and read the post about my last run, I think you'll get a kick out of it (not my first post in the thread, I mean the one with the dogfight).

when i was 15 i went to live with my sister in Cali. i made some friends down the street i think the first night. i followed them on a bike ride. we went through undeveloped lots and a fence with a section removed. it went down an embankment. it was dark and no lights around. they didn't tell me to duck beneath the wood that was still going across the top of the fence. i hit it hard with my head. got knocked off my bike. they had a good laugh. i shook it off and luckily nothing bad happened. i think.

Well, when I was a youngin and growing up in MT, my friends and I used to play war games. The idea was to sneak up on your enemies and tackle them to the ground. Once you did that they were now on your team. Well, this was played out in fields and woods, at night when it was pitch black out. I had been laying in wait under a small tree when a kid (other team) started to walk by so I jumped out from under the tree to tackle him. Turned out there was a whole bunch of other kids that I didn't see. They started yelling and then I realized they were there so I took off like a bat out of hell through the woods and was just about to enter a field when all of a sudden I felt a poke in my throat along with something pulling on my legs, waist, and throat. Next thing I knew I was slingshoted backwards. Turns out I had run into a barbwire fence that I didn't see because of it being dark. Minor little poke in the throat and a couple other little scratches from the fence.

I lived with 4 roommates in my early 20's - in a house. We were party animals and there were parties almost every weekend. Drunken parties, of course. Every single one of us managed to rush through the back door to or from the deck -forgetting there was a sliding glass door blocking the way- and smashed our face/body into it (sometimes multiple times in one party). Some people actually got knocked down if they were going fast enough. Lol!!! They still talk about that damn glass door to this day!

Mine is somewhat running related. About 6 weeks ago I was running on a paved path with some new snow on it. Doing fine when I hit a patch of ice covered by snow. My feet flew out from under me and I landed on my butt and elbow and ended up smacking my head on the pavement. Still have a lump on my head. But at at least no one saw me!

Oh, I had an accident on my bike too. I had been so proud of myself for not falling over on my bike from not unclipping my feet from the pedals after like 6 months. All my friends had done this within the first week or so of owning the pedals that you clipped in to. Well At about 6 months I pulled up to a stop light and tried to unclip my feet and they were stuck. I tried to do a trackstand and then tried to pedal and turn off the road but I had forgotten to shift down so was in way to high of a gear and toppled right over. It was so embarrassing. All those cars going by laughing at me......

No, but my mom's family used to be good friends with Emil Sitka, the real "Fourth Stooge." (My mom happens to know a lot of celebrities and singers, and she's been an extra in a couple of movies: one was The Greatest Story Ever Told, she was a slave girl, I think; and the other one was a movie about Fidel Castro where she played his girlfriend.) He used to send my mom a Christmas card every year right up to when he died. He always included a nice letter. After that, his son kept in contact with my mom every year, and he even thanked my mom for her friendship with his dad. I don't know if his son still writes to my mom though. I think something happened to him. I'll have to ask her. Do you remember Emil Sitka? http://www.emilsitka.com/thethreestooges.html If you ask me, he kinda looks like Sean Penn.
