Mileage Reporting 2nd Week of 2013

No, it's the 3rd...if you want to call it running. I am so out of shape! I run at night, so my poor neighbors don't have to stare at me and wonder if I am in trouble or if I am "trying" to run. sigh.

Well, I'll quote The Texas Tornadoes: "A little bit is better than nada"

By using my Facebook account to catch the overflow. To wit:

  • Helicopters are aerodynamically suspect.
  • Wait wait wait wait wait…are you telling me that’s NOT butter? I can’t believe it…
  • When the French go to change a tire, do they use a Jacques?
  • For some reason, the word “residue” makes me laugh….I’m sure subconsciously my mind is thinking something nasty, but it’s not sharing it with the rest of my brain…
  • I just realized that planes don’t have horns (like trains, cars or buses). I figure it’s because by the time two planes are close enough to warrant the use of a horn, both guys are screwed so it doesn’t matter…
  • I think sweet potatoes are just Yams that are in the Witness Protection Program…
  • I think tonight’s debate should be moderated by Alex Trebek. That way after every time Obama or Romney state their piece, they can say “…so suck it, Trebek.” Yes. That would be optimum.
  • I just realized that when a boat leaks, it sinks; when a house leaks, it doesn’t. Which is a good thing, because IKEA furniture does not handle water very well…
  • I just realized that The Earth is the largest planet in the world…
  • Here’s a great name for a band: Maximum Squish
  • You know what's worse than a Red-Eye flight? A Pink-Eye flight. #TheMoreYouKnow
  • As we start the day, remember this folks: The mind is all in your head...
  • They say that variety is the spice of life. All this time I thought it was Paprika...
  • You know what you never see? A fast food joint serving Beef Stroganoff. I'm sure there's a reason for that...
  • I just realized that Brookstone is the Skymall catalog in real life...

Well, today spun out of control for me thanks to school and a sick child so no exercise today. My academic adviser from about 6 months ago had told me a wrong class to take so I spent last night and today trying to drop the wrong class and get permission to add the new class. Still have to mess with the VA though for the GI Bill benefits that I now need to change too. Ugh! Also had to stand in line at the bookstore at school for nearly an hour to sell back some old books. Seems like such a ripoff. I guess at least they even buy some of them back. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and I will be able to get my workout in.

Excuse me, I had to tinkle. And did you make all that up, Matey, or steal it somewheres?

The only thing I borrowed was the bit about Alex Trebek (it's a reference to an SNL skit) and I think I might have read the bit about helicopters somewhere, but I can't honestly remember. All else are original actual thoughts that popped into my head at one point or another...you can only imagine what it's like going though life with a mind like this...

I can ONLY imagine. And I refuse to allow myself to do much more than that! :p You poor thing.

I've sold some of my books on eBay/Half.com and Amazon. Though with all that hassle of packing and shipping, waiting an hour in line might be a better use of time. I suppose if there are books that the bookstore won't buy back, those could be sold online.

For buying books, if you know what your textbooks are and can order a week or two in advance, you can get good prices at these used book search engines:

http://www.bookfinder.com/
http://www.amazon.com/
http://www.abebooks.com
http://www.alibris.com/
http://www.biblio.com/
http://www.half.ebay.com/
http://www.textbooksrus.com/
http://www.textbookx.com/
http://www.thriftbooks.com/
http://www.bookdepository.com/

Just make sure your course instructor is OK with older editions, as that's where you'll save the real money.

Go Hawks! You're my team now.

Sell your old text books on amazon, ebay or one of the textbook sites. I think you usually get more $ from it and less hassle.
Sympathies on a hectic and frustrating day.

Thanks all with the suggestions. Unfortunately, when buying books I have looked online to try to buy books but my school has gotten into the racket of having you buy books specifically made for this school, so they are often hard to find online. As far as selling them online, the time spent trying to list every book I have to sell and then having to package and mail them is just as much time as just standing inline at the school. I don't make as much back but the convenience is better.

Lee, I'm really hoping the Hawks do well again this weekend, but despite all the talking heads saying that Atlanta is overrated, this will be a very tough game. Going 13-3 is not easy in the NFL, even if they did have one of the easiest schedules. I think the Hawks match up well with them and will at least give them a run for their money. If the Hawks lose they are who I will be rooting for to win it all. I can't stand the 49'ers and after this years debacle due to the replacement refs, I can't stand the Packers (although I used to like them prior to that game earlier this season, it seems that everyone takes out their frustrations over the replacement refs on the Seahawks, as if they had a choice in what the refs had decided).

We had 3 kids in college last semester, down to 2 there for at least another year, then maybe 3 again for a year. I am grateful that my kids have learned to deal with the system and help each other, too. But I certainly hear about their frustrations!

30 minutes on the recumbent along with ST (shoulders and biceps). My calf is apparently still sore which I did not know until I went to roll out my legs prior to heading to gym. Was a shocker and hurt quite a bit. Didn't bother me on the bike so I will probably have to do that for a week or so and see if this heals up soon. Glad I don't have any mileage goals for this year. ;)

10.4km today, rerun of my Jan 1st run, and shaved 4' off the time ! But more importantly, I felt that 'flying' feeling that some describe, when you have the impression your feet don't touch the ground...Awesome !!! I want more !!

So far, 60km in January, well ahead of my goal, but the year is still young ;)

Did a few miles on the xcountry skis yesterday morning and the day before. This morning = raining. Might be a while (if at all) until I get to use em again here. Tried to do a run yesterday but discovered the park trail is a complete mess of frozen footsteps in the snow. It was so rough it was worse than any trail run I have done. Ended up tweaking my ankle bad too. At the first road crossing I turned off onto the road and followed it around and back to the parking lot. Probably only 2 miles. Maybe tomorrow I'll get out for some more, but going to avoid the parks for a few more days until it all melts. That was awful.

Still none for me, but I finally got my car running after 10 days of sitting lifeless. So now that's off my mind maybe I can get back to the fitness stuff.

Also just bought a sweet hitch bar and Thule hitch bike rack for my car. Finally no more yanking off wheels and stuffing it all into my hatchback. :)

75 minutes on spinning bike, but only 2 power intervals. TRX for arms and core. The feet are feeling better, so I'm getting hopeful about running again. Can't seem to bear to look at the sign-up for the 13.1 in May until the feet are better and I run a couple of times.

Nice! I Just toss mine in :p. Was doing some cleaning in the garage yesterday to make room for my truck to work on the shocks (you'd think you wouldnt have to do cleaning in a 40x40 garage to fit one vehicle in...) and happened upon my bike. Should I put it up for the winter or leave it by the front. Hmmm. Cold... Ice... sounds like fun hopefully I'll get it out a few times in the winter.

I've already signed up for my May half and nervous too! Havent run that long in months... since September I think. Besides the mileage I hope my feet can toughen up to being bare by then!
