Had this lovely email from Tellman today,
First of all, Gary, I just wanted to say thank
you for being there for me - even if you've
never replied to my emails, I know you
are there listening.
I know I don't say that enough, and here's
what really brought this home for me today.
I was reading this article that nearly brought
tears to my eyes when I read it -
(And I hope you will pass this on if you know
someone that would benefit from it. )
It was called "Too Seldom is Heard An
Encouraging Word" and it was about how
huge a difference just one kind word of
appreciation can make for someone...
It can change their lives. Like a word from
a teacher, or a coach at just the right moment,
can stay with a kid forever.
But the part that really stuck with me (and put a
lump in my throat)
Was thinking about the kids, and how they really
learn from our KIND words, not criticism...but...
How often do we tell a kid what they did wrong?
How often do we tell them what they did right?
Especially this holiday season, I hope that you
will join me in focusing more on giving our
kids what they REALLY need from us...
Our patience, understanding and a kind word.
Those gifts will last them their lifetime.
SHABAMBO!
