Now Resolution!

Gracias, Sra. Dama! I got off very fortunately from the fall. I landed on my butt from more than 10 feet. I credit BFR with building up my glutes which acted as a shock absorbers and my bone density, so nothing broke. People have fallen not so far and not walked away from the experience. Yesterday I ran a full 5 miles BF and am suffering only a bit of twinges. Poco a poco, cada dia mejor .

Me da mucho gusto oir que te estas recuperando bien sin consequencias de la caida.

Great news JT.

Congratulations! Little by little indeed - but you will get there.

For the end of 2012 - I REALLY want to hit 1000 miles, I have 50 to go so it should be do-able. Just getting back from a short injury-induced hiatus.

I'd really like to learn to be smarter about my training and "listening to my body". Had to pass on a HM in November due to stupidity. I have got to get my head around the fact that sometimes my middle-aged body needs a break and that a short break is better than a long layoff. DUH!

I'd like to do some HMs in 2013, maybe some I haven't done before and maybe some of the same.

Yikes!

Thanks for the kind words.

My not "new" year's resolution is to lose the same 10 pounds that I resolved to lose the last several years.

Still trying to cut back on the carbohydrates.
Drink less wine...maybe a little less, probably not.
Enjoy less Microbrews...probably not neither.

I know... I'll just continue running barefoot, swim, lift and try not to look at my naked self in the mirror.

SayGo, I think the key to achieving your goal, after staying healthy , of course, is to arrange for decent running weather for the next 3 months. 35 to 40miles /week is tough when there's a foot of old snow all over everything. Maybe you can light some incense sticks an meditate on global warming. What did you do this year?

I live on the outskirts of Pittsburgh so I run on the treadmill before work on weekdays and only venture out for long runs on weekends. I'd rather run outside all the time but I'm basically close enough to the city that morning traffic is really hazardous and far enough that streets are not very well-lit - bad combination. If the weather is REALLY prohibitive then hitting 40/week entirely indoors is not a problem.

I lived in Pittsburgh for several years. A coworker used to joke that the streets were so terrible, bacause they just paved over the horse trails. There might be some truth to that!

Edit: I'm changing my goal to the pursuit of happiness. I've run to lose weight, for weekly mileage, for distance, and I'm running for me now.

In the early stretch of day 13 and I am going strong. How is everyone else doing?
Glad to hear you're still going strong. I am not going to make my 500 miles for the year but I am still working on faster paces and staying injury free. I did have a minor scare for an ankle injury but everyday it seems to be getting better and I can run on it now. I only had to take a few extra days off from normal.
