Are barefoot runners inherently crazy?

Here are the non-running similarities I have observed in my barefoot running friends.

  • Overactive imaginations
  • Hilarious, whacked-out senses of humor
  • Indeed, either highly creative or highly intellectual, or in some cases -both.
  • Non-conformists
  • Natural leaders
  • Dedicated and commited
  • Un-closeted perverts

That last one made me think up the phrase "Freaky as a closet full of perverts". The list, while good, seems to be missing something, but I can't quite put my finger on what...

I don't smoke crack. But I have unfortunately become a heroine addict due to all the syringes I step on. That reminds me, I need to add "The Cure" to the Music thread over in the pub.

I like female superheroes, too. It's much healthier than being a heroin addict...

Part of my schtick is that I have come to a place in my life wherein I am both happy in my own skin and increasingly lacking in concern for the impact I have on others. I especially like being happy, being aware that I'm happy and expecting to continue being happy.

I don't like working too hard, thinking too much about the negative sh*t most folks seem to love to clasp to themselves, and feeling angry. I try to arrange my life to minimize these things.

I'm pretty definitely not crazy, but I'm not going to argue with anyone who thinks I might be.

Personally, I think if you "buy" your iron, you're really at risk of tmts. While learning to mine, smelt, and forge, or cast, if you want to go that direction, do take time, the skills are really necessary to build the muscle groups that are foundational to extreme Ironing. And let's not even go into boards. If it's not iron to skin, is it really bare?

A little late to this since I haven't been around the internets much, but I'd have to agree with a causation in the order of "crazy people" become barefoot runners not the other way around. Other aspects of my life fall extremely far into the realm of non-conformist and are what most people would consider completely insane. Barefoot running is one of my more normal things. Its something I actually admit to to the people around me :). I've found that people in all the non-conformist areas of my life to fall into the "crazy" category. If you aren't a bit on the crazy side, you aren't going to be comfortable trying things everyone else makes fun of you for.
