Now that I've got you....which do you prefer?

Your cheeseburger with the cheese on top of your burger or on the bottom? If I had to choose, I'd say I prefer it on the top. However, I'm more of a regular burger gal and can do without the cheese. Now horseradish sauce is something my burger can't be without.

On top is just being

On top is just being practical, as it allows the cheese to drip down the sides of the burger.

That said, sometimes you gotta mix it up for the sake of mixing it up. Hey, which way to the BRS pub? I wanna look into crewing while intoxicated (CWI)...maybe Kitty can help with that...

Hmm, good point Art does this

Hmm, good point Art does this go for all other condiments then as well?

And, you're in the pub my friend...what'll ya have? Kitty may be able to hook you up with some of her special wine iskiate for your crewing ;)

As with all condiments, it is

As with all condiments, it is about balance and variety. Sometimes good balance leads to variety and vice versa. Sometimes you wanna keep your condiments well contained, and sometimes it's nice to have some extra sauce on your plate to dip in...tastes vary from one day and one person to the next.

Just polished off a 22oz of homebrew ginger beer and am thinking a bit of absinthe would be the proper end to the night...what's brewing out at Lake Wobegon?

I can't believe this is

I can't believe this is posted here! This is an ongoing dispute between my wife and me. I prefer to put the cheese on the bottom, as it acts as a glue, holding the bottom bun to the patty. The other condiments and "toppings" can then go on the top of the patty. My wife likes her cheese on top. I don't like the way it pulls the top bun apart when you open the burger up to put on the condiments, though.

And don't even suggest putting the condiments on the bottom. That's just not right. You're starting to mess with the natural order of things.

lmao Art, I like your way of

lmao Art, I like your way of thinking. Definitely about a balance ;) I like condiments on top of my burger AND on the side for dipping.

SP, now that sounds dangerous! We've got a great burger place down here called Newts, same sort of thing...gourmet 1/3lb burgers. There's one called the Fatty Melt, two grilled cheese sandwiches with a 1/3lb burger inside. Dh tried it once, once :p

Joe, interesting you and your wife have an ongoing despute. Sounds like you may be in the minority, however..good point in cluing the bottom of the bun to the burger. Pain in the ass when it falls off or gets all slipped off the proper placement. It's all about even distribution, can't have excess bun hangin out without any burger on it and vise versa.

Well since you tricked me, I

Well since you tricked me, I have to be a kill joy :)

Don't really care too much for any of the above, cheese, burger or a bun! Guess I'm not really an American then huh?

The fatty melt sounds awesome

The fatty melt sounds awesome Zumba. It rivals the 2 pound burger (the Super Mega Flameburger) at Flameburger (Columbia Heights) in worst cullinary decisions ever.

After I ate the Super Mega, I couldn't even look at hamburger meat for a month without getting sick to my stomach.

I'm hungry.

I'm hungry.

Damn SP, 2lbs of burger???

Damn SP, 2lbs of burger??? That sounds like torture! My favorite (though, like Abide, I'm not MUCH of a burger person) is the Blue (carmelized onions and blue cheese crumbles on burger. yum)

Ok, Abide, let's try...ice cream and cake. Do you like your ice cream on top of your cake or on the bottom? OR on the side?? ;)

It wasn't too bad.  I had

It wasn't too bad. I had consumed many beers prior to the eating adventure. It was back in college when I did a lot of weight lifting and was about 30 lbs heavier. I was quite the eater in my early 20s.

as a burger expert, once ate

as a burger expert, once ate nothing but cheeseburgers for lunch and dinner for a month, i can say the cheese goes on top. the only time cheese goes on the bottom is when you put it on both sides of the patty. I've done a 2lb burger before and it did hurt a bit but not nearly as bad as the hot fudge sunday i chased it with!

A burger expert huh?  That

A burger expert huh? That must make me a Chipotle expert. I ate there every day for three months in college. It's the only meal you need all day for $5. Can't beat it.

I like to squash the

I like to squash the cheese into the burger and mix it all in along with a-1 and garlic salt and cajun seasoning. Then put it on the grill and baste it with buttermilk! Yummy!

Cheese on a burger?

Cheese on a burger? Definitely on top. As for other stuff, why only pick one? I like to spice things up from time to time... :p

I was gonna answer "both or

I was gonna answer "both or either," but then I actually read the whole question... I still can't get excited enough about ground meat to eat it except when the choice is "eat it or throw it out."

But if we're talking lentil burgers, I'll say one slice on top and one on the bottom, pepper jack, by preference. (I'm spoiled; SO makes awesome lentil burgers.)
