Does anyone mix tredmill running in with there regular road and trail runs? I started doing just that lately and it's been helping my Morton's toe ( if that's what it s) out, it's helping my form better on road runs too.

Sorry about type error, have

Sorry about type error, have no idea where the crazy face popped up at? I meant to say if that's what my condition is about with Morton's toe? My foot isn't bothering me as much, I am able to focus on my form better on the treadmill, because I am not dodging acorns, branches, rocks, and other stuff that breaks my focus. plus I can hear my feet scrape when I get off my form on the treadmill. Just a thought, I am still learning, can't never learn too much!

c'mon people gimme some

c'mon people gimme some input. I know there's got to be some treadmill mixed people on here? It's just something new that I am trying to perfect my bfr form with. It is helping so far along with gravel trails. I am staying off pavement for now til the bottom of my right foot eases up some. Just trails, gravel, and treadmill for now.

I haven't had access to a treadmill since I stopped wearing shoes. I'm surprised to hear that you like it and that it helps with your form - from what I've read, mostly people have a real hard time barefoot treadmilling. (I think it screws up their stride length.)

I'm glad to hear that it works well with your injury, though! If it lets you run healthy, it's got to be a good thing!

I sometimes do barefoot on

I sometimes do barefoot on the treadmill but I only really do it for short periods to aid recovery for pretty much the same reasons you said ie. not having to dodge stuff. I find it's not the same as normal running but it seems to help my form too and also toughens my feet up a bit as well.

The treadmill can be used as

The treadmill can be used as a great tool for many things, I don't see anything wrong with mixing it up. On a personal note i avoid Dreadmills like the plaque.

The longest I ran on a treadmill was 18 miles in Vibram's. The only reason I did something that stupid was because I was in training for a marathon, and that day I had to get my long run in, and there was basically a hurricane going on outside. I remember my feet being really hot around mile 14, it was horrible.

I don't like the dreadmill

I don't like the dreadmill either, but NR, if it works for you GREAT! I'm glad you found something that will help you through this. Just be careful on them. I was running barefoot on one at the physical therapist's office a couple of months ago, lost my focus for just a second, and cut the side of my foot open. It was one of those burn-cuts too. Felt more like a burn than a cut.

Yes, I think it's good to mix up our running as much as possible, with surfaces, distances, and speed.

Also, running on a treadmill is a good way to help you increase your speed. You plug in the speed you wish to go, and you have to go that speed...until you turn it back down that is. Doing so really should build up the lungs well too.

I used the treadmill (bf) all

I used the treadmill (bf) all last winter. I had started last summer in FF and had TOFP. When winter hit, I got so desparate because my foot would not stop hurting, that I started running bf on the treadmill. It helped me tremendously with my form and the TOFP went away. I did that all winter until the weather turned and then I moved back outside. I agree totally with what you said about being able to focus on your form. Sometimes the roads are SO bad and there are stones everywhere, that form is the last thing I'm thinking about!

Oh, NR, that smiley that

Oh, NR, that smiley that showed up is from typing ( s ) but without spaces. It's the drunk smiley. I use (/s) to get around this.

Thanks for all the input. The

Thanks for all the input. The treadmill really is helping my form. Where I live the roads are covered with trees, and lots of more trees lol! All the annoying little branches are always falling out, plus gravel from side trails are everywhere, acorns galore, 500 ducks that won't move for nothing lol, and so on! It's an obstacle course, I seek the trails for refuge. The treadmill allows me to focus like I said, and I can here my foot steps and tell if I am getting off on my form. I never knew I was scuffing here and there til I did the treadmill. When I get my foot pain isolated, I will be a better runner with better form with my treadmill. I love the gravel trail too, nothing like the gravel teacher! :)

I love trails.  I like having

I love trails. I like having to think about where best to place my feet with each stride. I like the strategic thought that has to take place in order to have a successful run, but that's just me.

I like all those thing too, but since I have a potential injury about to happen, I feel I must focus back on form again. Then I can have more fun doing it the right way. I always have fun no matter what when it comes to running. It's relaxing for the soul! You are right it does help my breathing too going at a consistant pace!

I think it's great that you

I think it's great that you enjoy running on the treadmill, NR. Maybe I'm a little jealous 'cuz I wish I liked it too. I know it could help me get to be a stronger runner. I just find it so boring.

Not too boring, I turn the t.v. on to the sports channel and turn it all the way down, then crank up some Metallica, Pantera, Megadeath, Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses, etc... on the stereo! I do run outside too, on my days off when I am not working 12 hr swingshift. I am determined to run , I will get there eventually ;)

Pantera, Metallica,

Pantera, Metallica, Megadeath! Now you are talking. Pantera is my all time favorite band! Funny because out of the blue I wrote a little thing in my blog about my one and only Pantera concert.

I don't listen to music anymore when I run, but when I did that was the stuff I listened to. I thinking running with aggression is a positive.

OMG, NR!  Metallica, Pantera,

OMG, NR! Metallica, Pantera, Megadeath, Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses, etc... I grew up listening to that stuff. I was a total headbanger!

My hubby installed a TV on the wall in front of my elliptical, so I could watch TV and gave me a fan, but that didn't help either.

You WILL get there, NR! You have determination.

Adam,I saw your video,

Adam,

I saw your video, that's kick ass, love it! You're right they don't play em like that anymore, pansies lol!

T.J.

I grew up on that music too, I have seen Metallica and Slayer in concert, I saw Kiss once, I used to stay up late and listen to headbangers ball and smoke left handed cigarrettes ;)

 I'm considering getting one

I'm considering getting one of the NordicTrack incline trainers (or seeing if the local La Fitness has them since we can get a membership through work for $30). Living in S. Fla there are NO hills of any sort. Maybe some bridges, but even then they're not that long or steep.
