Not sure if any of you have seen this yet. An interesting way to advertise, to be sure. Before you click the link, you should know it's an interactive Flash page with a nearly naked man and woman strategically covering certain portions of their anatomy. They have a bunch of tattoos on them you can click for more info. I'm curious what y'all think of this.

You've been warned.

PS. for those not in the know, NSFW = Not Safe For Work

The only part I cared for was

The only part I cared for was the "removing technology" at the beginning. Other than that, it was just way too long. I was bored. I kept clicking whenever I got a pan hand just to get through it, then said forget it and ESCd out of it.

I was wondering if it was

I was wondering if it was just my slow internet connection that was killing the speed, or if it was just a slow interface.

There was a link to this on

There was a link to this on the RW site. I wasn't going to throw away another 10mins of my life watching it again :-| Perhaps this is why VFFs cost so much.

How about dumping the the idiots in the marketing dept' and cutting the price of the shoes? Vibrams seem to selling pretty well without this sort of crap....

Ok...I'm tired of people

Ok...I'm tired of people complaining about the cost of five fingers. I spent $75.00 on a pair of classics back in April, and have put over 800 miles on them so far, with NO signs of wear or tear. Most of those miles are on some pretty nasty gravel roads. If I had been running in shoes, I would have gone thru at least 3 pairs at around $100.00 per pair or more, and that is just training shoes. Add another pair of racing flats at around $75.00, and I've replaced nearly $400.00 in shoes for $75.00. My vibrams have been well worth every penny.

You do get your money's worth

You do get your money's worth with the mileage on the VFFs. That's for sure. Vibram guarantees each pair for 700 miles. I've known people to get well over 1,000 miles on them, and that was just a tally number up to that time. Vibram also is good about returns.

I guess nekkidness (hey, I

I guess nekkidness (hey, I live in Texas) gets your attention but the interface of the ad sort of sucks. It should be more intuitive--where to click & when. It ends up being frustrating...where do I click? Is it over? Did I miss something? I like the idea behind it, being natural and everything, but the ad could have been executed better....

Beth, my friends and I have

Beth, my friends and I have a phrase for that. We call it: "Well planned, poorly executed."

I like the Vibrams, but the

I like the Vibrams, but the side busted out of mine on gravel trails after only 65 miles, the kso version? They have been sent back for replacement, but I wont see them for 4 more weeks! Hopefully the next pair won't be flawed.

Well i'm run barefoot or when

Well i'm run barefoot or when at work in shoes still seaching for a good min. running shoe, I like the look of the VFF's but leaning more toward the Feelmax Osma. Being that wont get scorned by the army for not having a propper running shoe.

At Six Flags Over Georgia

At Six Flags Over Georgia today, in the Skull Island water park, one of the lifeguards was wearing a pair of black KSO VFFs. Cool!

EVERYBODY is wearing VFF's

EVERYBODY is wearing VFF's here in Philly. Out on the river trail, I see about 20% of runners wearing them. Of course, I have to be in my dorky water shoes... I don't think Vibrams are too expensive - just wish they fit. I would gladly pay the money.

That is quite excellent,

That is quite excellent, JSchwab, 20% is a good number. I don't see that down here though. We have a lot of barefoot and minimalist runners though. In fact, the BRS Georgia Chapter has almost 70 members now, more than any other chapter.

i am still searching for my

i am still searching for my first fellow bf'er or even vffer out on a run. i did see what looked like an 80 year old asian man running the other day with bare feet. it was quite a sight, pink shorts, no shirt, no shoes, and a big cone shaped straw hat! other than that guy I have no idea where my bf brethren are.

I have complained about the price complaints of vffs for years now. the shoes last forever. I know there have been some quality control issues but i've had zero on any of my six pairs, one of which is over 3 years old and pushing 1000 miles easy. so i agree demon...quit complaining people cuz the product is worth it.

I saw you mention this earlier. Has the Army officially said No to VFFs or is this just your CO doesn't like them? If it is an official policy, does it apply only to organized PT sessions or are you prohibited from wearing them for running on your own time also?

You should have stopped him

You should have stopped him and invited him to join us here, Jimmy. Sounds like an interesting person. Perhaps with his years, he has some excellent experience/s he could share with the rest of us. Oh well. Next time?

That's probably why we differ in our idea about the costs of VFFs. I've just had a quick check and Classics are around $75 and KSOs $85 in the US. Over here in the UK I've just found "Sale" prices of $121 for Classics and $141 for KSOs...I payed about $133 for my Classics a couple of months ago and $155 for my KSOs.

Since VFFs are costing you close on half as much as they are costing us....yup, bargain!

Just wondering how the vff

Just wondering how the vff prices compare to a pair of Nike or brooks. Are regular running shoes running 60% more on the other side of the pond, or is it just the vff's? Could be that wonderful VAT, supply and demand (smaller market), or any combination of economic factors. I'm just a runner, not the head of the federal reserve.

A quick Google check gives

A quick Google check gives the following UK prices:

ASICS 2150...............$100

Brooks Glycerin 8.......$94

and Nike Lunar Elite..........$106

I finally heard a reason for

I finally heard a reason for not wearing VFFs in a gym that almost made sense. The concern was the ability to kick a weight or piece of equipement with your little toe and jam it or bend it too far out because it is separated from the other toes.

Still lame, but made more sense than lack of protection from a weight being dropped on your foot.
