I've been a runner since at school where I wore just thin plimsoll type shoes, no cushioning, motion control and.... no injuries. After school I bought real running shoes so I looked like a real runner. I have run ever since but found the injuries started to build over the years, knees, calf strains, hamstrings, back. Moved into heavy motion control shoes and orthotics, these were my dark running years when I considered giving it all up as my injuries increased and the heavy shoes made it a miserable experience. Then the sun rose again with the reading of Born to Run and the realisation that maybe I'd been the victim of the corporate running industry who overcomplicated what should be a simple human occupation. The shoes got thrown out in 2009 and now I am running longer distances that I ran 30 years ago. I cover around 40-50km per week now and enjoy each run good or bad.Interact
