Barefoot Walker is now a runner too!
As of 07/31/2011, I started running as well, and now make about a half hour per day.
I participated in my first barefoot 5K (Forey Fest) on 01/14/2012, completing it in 29:33 minutes in slightly subfreezing temperatures, and was, as far as I could tell, the only one to remain barefoot before and after the event (I am always barefoot).
The coldest I have run is around 10 or -12℃. Our winter 2011-2 was unusually mild, which has meant more days of running. In 2012, I ran in a number of events, mostly 5Ks, but did a few longer than that including a ten and thirteen (Sycamore 8), and once trained for over fourteen. The winter of 2012-3 was colder and snowier, and a lot of my training was in shoveling sow (yes, barefoot).
So far this year, I did four, one of which (the Solidarity Run of 04/20, done in subfreezing temps, in support of Boston) was not timed. You can see pics of the latest one I did (Grand Blue Mile 04/23) in the Race Pics forum.
The event I am looking forward to is the Bare to Breakers in San Fran in three weeks.
This Sunday is the Drake 6/10/Half/Full, at which I signed up for the shortest.
Lets meet up for a barefoot walk, or, better yet, run!
