Addiction

Damn Facebook. What could they possibly be talking about?

Yep, I'm addicted. The first year, I could get away with being on here. "Honey, I'm just doing research so I won't get hurt". Now she knows better. But she hasn't caught me on the hottest female athlete thread yet. It's all good, because she spends way more time on her d@m* facebook then I do here.

lol I'm on FB and on here. My wife is not on FB at all, she deleted her account some years ago.

However I did show her that one vid of that Aussie hurdler girl doing her little warm up dance. She's all into Zumba dance stuff so she thought it was cure. And she read "that" post on zapmamak's blog and thought it was totally hilarious. :p

Physically, my wife is with me and the kids here in Minnesota, but mentally, she's still in Mozambique, thanks to Facebook and Skype. I kind of long for the days when it took six weeks for a letter to arrive on the other side of the planet.
My wife was there a year or two back. Social media is a killer for cultural adaptation...and ironically a great window into other cultures while at "home" at the same time.
Constant contact with "home" however makes transition that much harder and take that much longer.
I feel your pain Lee. The only solution is paitents and time...unfortunatly adaptation and transition can only effectivly happen when initiated by the individual....not thier spouse...lol
Though it would be nice :D

You know, I really long for the simpler times too. I really do waste a lot of time between here, FB, my 4 football blogs I read, BRU, and reading the news online. I think my boredom with school and not working is really getting to me. I also have developed a love hate relationship with my phone. I hate talking on the damn cell phone but I sure love/hate texting, fb, internet, and checking my email. Sometimes I wish no one had invented cell phones or smart phones.

my mom still refuses to carry a cell phone......not because she doesn't know how to use it, but because she doesn't like the idea of people having the expectation that she is always available. I guess it gives her some time and peace for herself...

Yah, it didn't help that she became bedridden with our second pregnancy about a month after arriving. But she has a Thai friend now, and starts a nursing program next month, so perhaps that will spend up the adaptation a bit, and she even speaks English to me once in a while now. I guess a long transition is good for preventing injury/alienation. Yesterday, though, we drove across town just to pick up some Brazilian sausages and cashew juice. Really too bad that Wisconsin is in the way, it would be great to hang out with you two once in a while. If you could replace western Michigan for western Wisconsin we could meet on the St. Croix sometime for a nice bbq picnic and a little trail running while the wives talk in Portuguese.

I got Facebook down to about a minute in the morning. I got really bored with it. If you ever want to see pics of my family though, let me know and I'll friend you.

Wouldn't that be perfect....
I've been longing for a BF running partner for some time.
If we are ever in the area we'll get in touch for sure

It was fine when it was just the cute cat and dog posts. Now it religion and politics. I told her it's got to end. She is not going to change anyone's opinions and every debate turns ugly.
Yep...I have a friend who always says that facebook leads to divorce.....lol
Funny how you can change the dynamics of human communication and all H#LL breaks loose....
Not that verbal communication is always pretty either...

I'm not really on fb much more than a minute at a time a few times throughout the day. I usually post something about my daily run, which my cousin gives me grief because he hates reading about it. I told him to just unfriend me if it bothers him so bad. He doesn't have to read about it either... I think he just likes to complain. ;)

I just heard in the news that some employers are hesistant to hire people who do not participate at some capacity in social media (particularly FB). Not quite sure about the logic but I'm willing to bet that it is not very sound...

It's because they want to track what kind of person you are... They can't do that if you're not on it.

Mike was just complaining this morning about how long Facebook takes to read. Then I clued him in to the fact you can categorize your information into groups, so that you only have to read whatever is in the groups you create. Like I have "Close friends" and "Aquaintences" and "Family" etc. Those are the three I read every day and all the rest I read whenever I have time. Starting with "Funny" :D

Some of my co-workers friend their bosses on FB. Duh. I won't even friend my co-workers let alone my boss. Duh, again. When they ask "why" I just say "how can I complain about you then?" Lol.
