We want YOU to design our new logo!

Here is my stab at it. I did this with illustrator CS5 (which I suck at) so, if someone more skilled than me wants to use this as a base I can send the file. Anyhow... two different colors. And yes... that is my foot. LOL Who wouldn't want their foot in the logo?

I really like that font! And I'm always partial to red.

I have an idea ... haven't had time to mess around with it but, picture the outline of a bare foot similar to this one, but not as drastically curved, with the name of the club inside it, filling it along the countours, and maybe the sillouette of a BF runner running along the top, like running on hills.... something like that.

That is a sweet idea! Can you design it yourself? If not, Zap could help you put it together the way you are seeing it. I can put you in touch with her.

meh, I dunno if I could do it all on my own, TJ. I probably could but it'd take me forever, especially getting the text just right. And I couldn't make a runner from scratch, would have to have something to work with. Something like the attached maybe, but I'd really like have a little more humor and playfulness in the whole thing (along the KenBob lines as far as tone, but slicker and more professional ... )

The really good thing about the previous logo was the text/font, imo, btw. That 'swing' was just right.

I have an account at www.fotolia.com and would be happy to spring for the couple bucks for an image, no problem. So, if you (all) want to look around at the site and see what you can find, let me know. edit: if you do look for pics, choose 'vector' as the format.

here are some runners who would need to have their shoes removed, lol:

This is the gist of my "logo" except, I can't figure out where to put "Barefoot Runner's Society" -so many places to choose from. I think it should go in the upper left hand in a semi-circle, one word under the other. Thoughts?

Hey Jen - I like your artwork! But it's not really a logo. The silhouette could be a good jumpin-off point, maybe you can you draw something similar but more sharp-edged and clearly barefoot? Cleaner lines are important. That'd be awesome! The color gradient and the wall/blocks are too much for a logo, though, I think.

I need to put a deadline on this, so I'm going to say March 15, 2012. Get those ideas to us!

True, not a logo. To get that kind of detail the person would become gigantic -that is a Tarahumara Indian BTW -I'm sure it just looked like a lump. Lol. Too be funny, maybe we should make a silhouette of someone stubbing their bare foot on a rock, or stepping on a needle. Lol.

Love it! Thank you for taking the time to put these together.

Here's what it says there:

Sure, Bill Waterson probably wouldn't come after us (since there are so many others who have taken his work), but why would be want to violate his trademark/copyright?

Also, please consider other colors besides red and black together (for example: blue and black, orange and black, any bright color and black will work).

And we will want to make sure that no part of the design submitted was borrowed from anywhere on the net or elsewhere. It must be completely original and your own.

Thanks, paraganek, for putting those together. Unfortunately, now that I see them, I discover I still like #4 better.

When I see what you did, obviously you had to turn the other foot upside down to make it fit the yin/yang, and that just looks peculiar to me. But again, thank you for the effort--one doesn't find out these things unless one can look at them.

There are others who use Calvin illegally on their products and publicize the fact? As far as remember, Bill Waterson and his publisher are very protective of their property (and of course, as you said, using his work is just wrong anyway). That said, it would be SO cool to able to use Naked Calvin!!! Maybe if we explain that we're a non-profit? Maybe if Mr Waterson has started barefooting? Oh the possibilities, lol.

And, uh, that said, I like your ideas, paraganek, and also tend toward 4,5 and 6 (7,8 and 9 remind me of big ears).

Zapmama noodled around with the idea that I posted earlier. Maybe she'll post a pic or two soon.

I don't mind the upside down foot, the more I look at it.

Should we narrow down the submissions on those that are similar? For example, I would choose 10 over 12. Otherwise, I can see how we may get some one vote here, one vote there, kind of thing.
