Your kids vs. you

Haha. I just found it funny last night I was considering a decision and I consulted my 3 year old. What?! You don't get a vote, kid!

I was playing "Hangin With Friends" last night. I had PE_ _ E and could only miss one more letter. He said to play a "C" I didn't take his advice and played a "N". The word was PEACE. I was schooled by a 6 year old.

I remind my kids from time to time I should have had chickens!

i taught my girls to think and not let people push you around. now that they're teenagers of course they're throwing it back at me. such is the circle of life. thanks mufasa.

All in all, though better to have girls who push you around than girls being pushed around. I heard a sports radio guy say the number 1 thing he wanted for his daughter was confidence. I thought that was pretty good. It's funny how strategic planning is so big in government and business now, but we often don't have strategic plans for our children. What are the end goals, how are we getting there, how do we measure performance along the way?
One of my goals is I want my kid to be a critical thinker and to form his own opinions on things. Also, leadership is important, so I often consult him and ask him what he wants to do to encourage this. But I think it is funny how often I listen. Every once in a while I should throw a stick in his plan just to affirm myself as king of the house.

The number 1 thing I want for my daughters is striking skill. That's why I've got a boxing coach now. i learn from him, they learn from me:).

As to who's winning in the house, it depends on the kid. My older one definitely gets that mom n dad are in charge. The little one is the living embodiment of Max from where the wild things are. She is determined to beat us no matter the cost or tactic. She's only 2-1/2 though. There's time yet for her to figure it out. We are having no more kids, though. Anything beyond a man to man defense is impractical. These kids would destroy the zone.

My wife rules the house.... I just work here. Oh, and there's also some little people that seem to suck every last dollar from my bank account...

We moved to Taiwan 5 years ago and my oldest son is in second grade. His Chinese is getting better and better and he is starting to correct us, especially on the tones. However, our English is still much better than his, especially when he tries to say something in English and only knows the Chinese way of saying it. If I don't understand what he is talking about, I have to translate his English into Chinese and then realize what he is trying to say and then tell him what the actual English word(s) is.

Precious. Video tape that to show him later. His girlfriend will love it.

Unfortunately, it is just one of those things that he says while he is talking and doesn't realize what he has said and there is no indication before hand so it would be difficult to record it. My second oldest says some pretty crazy made up English words but it has nothing to do with Chinese. It makes me wish I had a recorder always on for when they say things.

I know what you mean. I write down all the funny things my kids say. I plan to make a book for them when they are older. They really crack me up!
