I've been lurking here for quite some time, just soaking up the knowledge. I figured it was time to come out of the shadows.

I'm probably closer to a barefooter than a barefoot runner, although I do run. I originally found this place looking for shoes that fit, before I came to the realization that shoes aren't made to fit my foot.

My everyday 'shoes' for the past 3 years are custom made huarache from one of the vendors that still do that. The number of those vendors gets smaller every year, so I'm always on the lookout for others. I'm lucky enough that my job allows the sandal (w/socks when it gets really cold) all year.

Thanks to all of those who have contributed to the posts. They have been really helpful.

Welcome Jack! I've run in huaraches a few times, I have a pair of xero shoes I think (it's been a while since I bought them)? They're not really comfortable for longer distances, I may be on the look out for a better pair for longer trail runs.

I've been using Shamma sandals' warrior model for the last year. I've been really happy with it. I haven't tried Xero Shoes recently because they don't have the custom option anymore. They only have DIY kits and my feet are too wide for the sole they provide and I'd have to buy two sheets of the Vibram Cherry. One foot is 6 inches wide.
