What beer are you drinking tonight? For the new forum...

The Struis is really good and they have an IPA and pale ale I have been trying to find locally but not had much luck.

Made a trip up the the Brouwer 't IJ tried out three of the beers the IPA, Columbus and Motueka Pale Ale.

Came home with a couple of cases, wish I would have gotten a case of the double IPA. Anyway its easily some of the best beer I've had over here and it's a busy cool pub. If you are in A'dam I would definitely give it a try.

I am about to be single for the first time in 20 years, and though I will be back on my former "single" income, I will absolutely NOT drink Budweiser!!! NO MATTER WHAT! I'd rather take up prostitution to afford good beer! :D

Oh and I had an interesting brew yesterday (I'm off this week). Stone's Vertical Epic for 10.10.10 I guess each year they made a special brew starting on 02-02-02, and releasing the next one 1 year, month and day later.

It had a whole lot of interesting going on. I can't even remember where I got it and will probably never have it again. I've yet to see any other of these epics.

Here is a brief description... This ninth edition of our Stone Vertical Epic Ale series takes two interesting left turns. A Belgian-style golden triple is the starting point of this beer, but the first left turn is nearly immediate with the addition of dried chamomile flowers, triticale, and Belgian amber candi sugar. The second, and rather unusual left turn takes us half an hour up the road from Stone to Temecula courtesy of the addition of just-pressed Muscat, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc grapes from our friends at South Coast Winery. As the Stone Vertical Epic Ale series has moved through the calendar, we found that the brewing schedule for a 10.10.10 release coincided nicely with the grape harvest, neatly providing an interesting twist in this epic ale.

I could really taste the various wine grapes in this brew, and it probably would have paired with some nice aged cheese and some crackers!

Lol. Have you had anything from Stone before? I think even their small bottles have a longer description! Practically an essay on each bottle.

No, but the (ex) husband and I die of laughter reading wine descriptions, some of which sound downright erotic! Lol! And even coffee descriptions! Lol! One coffee description said something about birds singing in the trees at dawn! Lol!

I would actually love to write these descriptions!

Saw one from Great Lakes I hadn't seen before so of course I got a pack immediately. Only Belgian I've ever had from em so I wasn't expecting much... And really enjoyed them.

I suppose Belgians are supposed to be enjoyed warmer but after many miles of running and biking today in this hot a humid weather, a frosty mug pulled from the freezer wins every time ;)

Damn Tristan, first Chillwave and now Lake Erie Monster. Great Lakes is a pretty damn good brewery. I don't like those yeasty Belgian-style beers though. OK, I guess I like Leffe once in a while.

Ok so I was having my pre-race lunch yesterday at BJ's Brewhouse and decided to bring home a growler of their Hop Storm IPA. And now the race is done a couple glasses were appreciated!

I really like their Hop Storm but was very surprised how low it scored on BA. Some of the reviews didnt seem anywhere near what I like to enjoy every time I'm there. I don't know if they brew it a little different from brewery to brewery or maybe its just me. Oh and race report for the Emerald City Half Marathon will be in the works.
