I never get recall notices. Do they send them to you, if you register the product?
You can get recall notices from the .gov by signing up here: http://www.recalls.gov/list.html

Otherwise, I think if you fill in the registration card on a product that you buy and send it in, they are supposed to keep you up-to-date on recalls about that product.

I had that recall on my Prius when folks were getting the accelerator trapped under the floor mat. The recall suggested that as a temporary fix you take out the floor mat. The actual fix involved shaving an inch or so off the accelerator pedal, which I figured was much more complicated than just taking out the floor mat. But since Toyota was paying, and I figured I might want to sell the car some day, I got my pedal shaved.

Some stuff is quite sad and very serious, like when they talk about the number of babies who have been suffocated by their mattresses or strangled in their cribs, for example.

But then some stuff is just WTHuh?! Like when they recall candles due to fire hazard or unicycles due to fall hazard.

Will they recall over-built running shoes once they prove conclusively that they cause injuries?

RECALL: Footwear for damaging feet! Go figure!
