Mileage Reporting 18th Week 2013

FIVE phone calls and you still managed under an 8min pace? Uh.....

I have been using a web site called runningmap.com to calculate my distances and my gps watch (stop watch portion) for the time. Maybe this site is not giving me accurate distances. I did check a straight 1 mile section of road with this web site once and it came out accurate. The trails I run on are not straight though but wind around with many curves. Wonder if its accuracy drops when calculating around these curves? Tried using a Garmin Nuvi that I use for traveling once to track my distance but found it to be very inaccurate. It consistantly could not track the first mile of my runs. Not even in pedestrian mode. Once past the 1st mile its seemed to track distance properly. Guess I'm gonna have too use something else. Time for a Forerunner apparently. I do have a measuring wheel which could be another option. ;)

I posted a blog article just today about how fast people can run when barefoot - I guess I should have mentioned him!

Nice article Laura!

I dont claim to be a fast runner just doing best I can with the best methods I have available for tracking my distance at this point in time.

There was a guy and maybe he is a member here that ran the Omaha marathon barefoot with what I think is a good time.
Check it out here:

Last night I dreamt that I ran fast and my leg didn't hurt, but I also dreamt that my baby goats got loose and were walking on my back (I don't have any goats) plus the wind blew down my newly built chicken pen and a policeman wouldn't stop chewing me out for letting the chicks walk in the middle of the road, so I'm not counting on a dream come true.

Hope you find a nice place to settle, although I would think with another little one on the way, it might not be the best time to move.
Unfortunately Lee, we have completely outgrown the place we are in right now, several years ago. The market has crashed, even worse for condos, so we've been stuck and can't do anything. Our condo is now worth 46% what my wife paid when she bought it 6 1/2 years ago and the price is still falling... We can't rent it out and make enough to cover the mortgage and the HOA, so there are only a couple options left... which really suck. Anyhow, right now when my daughter is out here (15 years old mind you) she has to sleep out in the living room for a couple months. This gives her no privacy. Then add in another baby now into the mix, and things get even worse. We already have a full storage unit that we have to rent plus we have a whole room at my inlaws that is full of our stuff. Our hands are pretty much tied and we are kicking ourselves for not selling 5 years ago and just taking a hit with the capital gains tax. Instead we waited to get out of that 2 year window for capital gains tax and the market crashed, and then we kept thinking, oh the market will come back fairly soon. Then our flooded condo market just made the prices of the condos just plummet. Anyhow, we are hoping to move this year, but it really is up to the bank and them working with us on a short sell. Right now they are not.

Good luck with all that Nick, sounds like a major hassle. Given your situation, I might try to wrap it up as quickly as possible, as there's a good chance the Chinese real estate bubble is going to burst soon, according to some analyses anyway, which will cause a lot of turbulence in the global financial system. Of course, you never know, that could work in your favor, but it seems unlikely.

Ya, we are trying to hurry up with this, but like I said it really comes down to the bank. One way or another though, I do think we will be out of here this year. It just may really hurt my wifes really good credit in the process. It is pretty depressing to think about really, because we both are very diligent with payments and everything and both have really good credit. The real estate attorney said it was crazy the way the bank has been wanting us to short sale (which we could take a short sale but then take a personal loan on the difference of what is owed). I dunno, I just know we can't fit in here anymore. We started to not fit 5 years ago...

2.14 miles barefoot, hills. There were two bigger hills and one small hill. The middle hill was the largest one and dang near killed me (at least that's how I felt at the time). Made every hill though without stopping to walk and averaged a 12:16 minute/mile pace. I must have misremembered how long this route was because I swear it was only 1.6'ish miles. Gonna have to go back to the drawing board and figure out a shorter hilly route, although so far I am feeling pretty good. There is some road construction going this hilly route and I nearly made it through before anyone noticed I was barefoot. The way back through though everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at me and when I got up by the last flagger he radio'ed to someone that, "Wow! That dude is doing it really old school!" Hahaha, made me giggle a little.

What's up y'all, it's been a LONG time since I've been on here, and in fact today was my first run in 2 1/2 months. I've been doing LOTS of cycling though, and in fact just completed the 30 Days of Cycling challenge yesterday, logging 30 separate bike rides in the 30 days of April. Yesterday I achieved my fastest ever average moving speed of 14.7 MPH, doing 9.8 miles in just a few seconds over 40 minutes.

So today was my first run since 15 February. I finally got out today and did 2 miles in 29 minutes, 14:30/mile which is also pretty good for me, especially considering the 10 week hiatus. But then I also managed to get my first every blood blister on my left big toe, first one ever since I started my barefoot adventures in 2011. Hope it goes away quickly.

I think I'm also moving on from the Ease Into 5K app and instead just using Strava, since I've been using Strava pretty heavily these past months for bike rides, and I'd like to log my runs on there in the same place.

I know I get very profound looks of respect from most men I pass, even if they don't say anything. :)

3.65 trail run. Not a long distance, but steep. What's worse was the downhills - not only steep, but gravelly, so it was sometimes better to just run it out instead of trying to slow down. For most of the final downhills, I was like this:

Stopped taking your meds, did you? :D

Hey! Welcome back to the fray! I just started getting back on the bike training for Davis Livestrong and realized that we hadn't heard from you in a bit...

I'm told by those that know me best that I don't need "meds." I'm too interesting and unpredictable. It would ruin their entertainment.

Yeah, that's what they tell me, too...right after they tell me to come down off of the Taco Bell sign and put my clothes on...

I read that! Snow storms again? What's up with that?

I'm not sure but getting tired of it. Guess it's the weather yo-yo as winter want's to keep on keeping on! Sounds like this weekend will be 50's then 70's at the start of next week. The weather person said today that there hasn't been snow in central Nebraska in May since I think 1943.
