So...bras?

I love your new avatar, Shorty! Ha, perfect.

Yeah, I heard about this study on French radio and I'm more than sceptic!
In my youth I had small and firm breasts and never wore bras. :) According to the study, by being braless I should have developed muscles to keep them up. Unfortunately this was not the case. I put on some weight and my little darlings became big darlings and I still went without bra. And then I lost the weight and the not as big anymore darlings started to sag! :(
And then I started to use bras.

I don't know who to feel sorry for you or your darlings but that is so sad:sorry:

Hobbit, is it possible that when your little darlings started to sag was because of the stretched skin from them getting bigger, and not because of going braless? I'm a male so I have no real clue, it just seems a little plausible to me that this could be the cause. I really don't know though.

i've had big breasts, small, and medium. once the girl's bra come off they all sag, once they're no longer a teenager with growing breastesses. :playful:

yes. always willing to test new subjects as well. :wideeyed:

Hi Nick,
I think it actually had to do with my putting on and then losing weight. Women who are nursing babies would produce similar symptoms: initially firm and full breasts and then emptied and sagging breasts. And the study does specify, going braless would not be recommended for 45 year old mothers. :D
And as a lot of women are in a constant struggle with their weight, I would think this study would not apply to them either.

Yes - I have actual stretch marks on mine, for gaining and losing weight "too fast" and at an "older age" -my skin couldn't keep up!

Being a mom of four and nursing all of them I can attest to the sagginess of breast. I actually have to wear two sports bras to hold mine in place. I CANNOT stand for any movement in the chest area. I have come in from a run completely frustrated and irritated from chest movement.

Ok, so there goes the theory that the whole family hunted together way back when. Unless, I don't know, breasts weren't that big in those times? If we were all emaciated monkeys?
But still, I can't help feeling that bras are an invention of The Man. That weight on your shoulders? It isn't your bra tugging down, it's The Man!

Well, have a look at photos of today's hunter gatherer tribal people. (g..gle is your friend:)) For instance in the amazonian rainforest you'll still find (barefooted :barefoot:) tribes whose women haven't yet adopted bras. Normally they are not particularly emaciated (not obese either) - young girls and young mothers have small or big but usually firm breasts. Older women ("old" is of course relative - they usually don't live as long as we do) have sagging empty pouches.

If anyone would like to do firsthand research, I suggest going to the Bay to Breakers run in San Francisco. There are quite a few naked runners there, (male and female) and they have a wide variety of body shapes. <please notice emphasis on WIDE> :wideeyed:

Or...we could just attend the (Fig) Leif Erickson run on Wildwood trail this summer, right here in Portland. I will warn you, though, if I go - don't run behind me cuz my girls are getting to be a tripping hazard at my age. BWAHAHHAHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am finding there are advantages to having a small bust :)

As someone who was spent about 15 years in those kinds of places, I can confirm Hobbit's report. I remember in one village where I was doing interviews, a women's huge saggy breasts touched the ground when she sat down. She was only in her twenties, but she was already the mother of several children.

Firm breasts, like full red lips, are a sign of fertility. Bras, like lipstick, offer the chance to broadcast a deceptive or enhanced signal.
