GRRRRRR!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

Was in an accident this morning and now I'm stuck in a bind. It was the other driver's fault and he luckily admitted 100% guilt (coming from the other direction, he turned left directly in front of me), so I'm safe in that regard. I'm home, not badly injured but I do have some back and groin pain, mostly from tensing up at impact. And my left hand got hit by the airbag, thumb is all swollen.

The thing is, I could probably get by without a doctor, I'm kind of a badass that way, and not going would be the simplest solution, but if I don't go and something develops over time, then I'm screwed. So, I really have to go. Plus I know that his insurance company will try to rip me off so I want to do whatever I can to get whatever I can out of them.

BUT if I go to a doctor, and expect to get money for pain/suffering and lost wages, I probably can't be running across the countryside hour after hour. And my Ultramarathon in May? I dunno ... damn.

This just sux. I hate this stuff! I have an appt with a lawyer tomorrow morning, we'll see what they advise me. The other guy was actually very nice and proper, but if I go to the doctor, they're going to charge him with negligence. It's automatic, it's how the system works here. I don't want to do that to him! I don't know what to do ... damn.

And my poor little car that I love so much ... trashed :(

Dude! That sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks. What a headache, you have my sympathies.

Check with the attorney, state your position and ask him for advice on how to get what you want without triggering the stupidity inherent in the system.

Aside from that, let yourself process the accident without trying to solve it all now, that will come in due time. I'm glad you're basically OK and the other guy is as well - that's the important part.

Did your artificial disc take it in stride? Your surgeon may want to double check on it after an impact like that.

Sorry to hear of the accident, but glad to hear you're OK. I hope your lawyer can find a solution that protects you but also allows you to run.

It's amazing how careless people are driving when the stakes are so high. Even fender benders are major hassles that are easily avoided. My MO is to assume that everyone is a drunk idiot who just got fired and was divorced two days ago. I don't even trust blinkers as a reliable signal of intentions.

In the end, the insurance companies win.

Happy to hear you are ok.

As said Robbi, check with the attorney. And try don't think about other guy consecuences. Sometimes, a penality/pubishment/ is necessary to learn. Sometimes, learning is expensive.

And don't forget to check it with insurance company. Maybe it's the only way to repair your car...

Again, feel lucky not to be hurted (take care of yourself next days watching for neck 0r chest pain..)

Best regards

Yow! That sucks!

Having a bit of experience in such matters, I strongly advise you to take extra good care of yourself for a few days. You are working off a pretty deep shock to your whole system, and really need to be aware that you aren't operating at your best. Just cut yourself some slack, and do only what you must to get through the next while. Don't think about anything going on next week, let alone May. Eat well, leaning toward comfort foods and anti-inflamatory anything. Take naps. Don't worry about the other guy, who will be fine, and has his own worrying to do. You aren't responsible for the consequences of his mistake, and especially don't want to amplify the consequences you're experiencing yourself. Just take it a step at a time and listen to your lawyer's advice. Again, take care of your poor body! Even something as simple as drinking extra water will help flush toxins out of your system.

In 2010 I ws driving across an intersection, the second car through after the light went green, and a guy blew through his red light and took the front end off my car back to the front tires. If I'd been going just a hair faster he'd have crossed my "T' at my driver's door at 70 kph. I wasn't obviously hurt, but my whole body rang like a bell for a couple days.

Absolutely agree with JosephTree. Take care !!!

Thank you all very very very much!

I'm a little more shaken up than I thought but physically ok.

I'll do what you say JT and just kind of spend the next couple of days being quiet and recuperating.

Neck implant wasn't affected, according to the doc (who's also an orthopedic surgeon).

Thanks again :)

wow...major bummer...I'm sure you'll weather this storm, but for now I bet its no fun.

Badass or dumbass?! Of course, you go to the doctor! Remember your spine is compromised already as it is from before. I'm so glad you are alright. You're too much of a niceass too! Hee.

Niceass! Lol! That's hilarious!!!

BFW - Don't ALLOW your mind to make decisions for you right now. ALLOW your body to make decisions for you. Give it all the time it needs until it is ready to speak. Enable yourself to listen to it. And keep listening until it tells you what you need to know. Wow. I'm deep!

welp, I feel fine. Slept well, woke up without a hint of stiffness anywhere. I'm not going after any money for 'pain and suffering' for two reasons: 1. I'm not in any pain nor am I suffering; 2. If I do, the insurance company will own my ass.

Three reasons: 3. The victim role just ain't my bag.

I'm cancelling my appt with the lawyer.

I'm a qigong instructor and I can heal myself up best. Going for a therapeutic walk soon :)

After my neck OP, I actively took control of my healing process and was out of the hospital in three days. And was out running a couple days later :matey:

Very difficult when the system makes your decisions for you! Kind of the opposite experience here. When a 12 year old girl on a bike made a sudden move in front of my husband cruising along on his road bike, giving him a punctured lung and 3 broken ribs, she rushed over to him and asked, "Are you going to sue me?" But things are handled out of court, right at the curbside most of the time. Her parents visited dear hubby in the hospital and gave him a little cash gift. All very strange.

Edit: here being Taiwan, since we are here for the week, but the incident was about 4 years ago when we lived here. I belatedly realized you guys don't know my life story... ;)

Yeah, I don't want to be in that situation. If I sue for pain and suffering, then I can't be caught running. And if I'm not hurting, I'm not about to sit around like a toad pretending to be, just to milk the system. I've already cleansed the episode out of my own system, and even feel somehow inspired by it :D

Either that or it's the sudden change in the weather here - gorgeous!!!

That was an interesting story you wrote, btw. I've wanted to visit Taiwan for a long time, there are some Taoist temples there I'd like to see.
