vLast summer I started barefooting and bought a pair of minimalist thong sandals. But could not get used to the thong between my toes. So I started to google for a pair of minimalist sandals with teva-like straps on. And I couldn't find any so I made my own.

They worked fine but it turned out that they were a bit to short on the heal and the front straps a bit to far back. So now I'm making sandals 2.0. Anybody ells making your own sandals. I'm using 3mm leather, 4mm Vibram cherry soles and 10mm straps.

Very nice looking sandals! Are they stable on your feet or do they shift around as you run?

I'll post pic of my collection later...

I've made a few of my own sandals. It really is an experiment until you find what works well for you. I like your lacing method. My best sandals always seem to be the basic ones that I am wearing in my avatar with a traditional tying method.

Yes, they are stable on the feet, but since the front straps are a bit to far back the front sometimes flaps and when I don't lift my feet enough they have folded double under the foot. Thats why I need to place the forward strap more forward on my next try.

Looking good. Soon, you too will have your own running sandals company. :)

I'm also planning to make a pair of moccasins. The sole part will be made of a Kevlar fabric, and I will spray it with a transparent spray-on rubber. But thats for my next project. The sandals must be finished first.

I would like to see pictures of these mocs when you make them. Sound very interesting and I have toyed around with the idea of making mocs for myself.

OK, probably a month or two away. When I think about a moccasin I have trouble with the heel part. How do I make a heel with as few seams as possible. If I make the seems on the outside, how do I keep them from being worn down. If I make them on the inside, how do I keep them from causing me discomfort?

Anybody made moccasins?

I tried that Kevlar-type stuff on the bottoms of some socks once, okay twice. It was a huge mess, both times. :sour:
