Pets

I was really into fish & aquariums until my last move, havent set them back up since. I had spent a lot of time building and setting up a big tank in my last house, probably a little over a year to get it up and running, and the next year we moved.

Most recent pic of Leni the Wunderhund... She never looks into the camera, always on the lookout for rabbits, birds, deer, anything that might give chase

DSCN0013_resize.JPG This is Chewbacca and Kaycee. Chewie is the bigger kitty. We apparently don't feed him enough, as he caught and devoured a bird on Saturday and left us half a mouse on the stairs this morning. I guess I should be appreciative that he didn't bite off the head and leave it on the bed between us ...

Then there's Dusty, shown here picking up a turtle to carry it around the yard. We try to discourage it.

Some of you may wonder why I am Hope'sMom. Hope was our previous dog, we lost her a couple of years ago to lung cancer. When we had her put to sleep, I promised her I would always be Hope'sMom, and there you have it. Here is Hope:

We also have a cockatiel, named Birdy-bird, who is ancient. I got him during my first year of grad school, which was 1994/1995. Apparently I don't have any pics of him.

Those are great stories and beautiful pets.

What a beautiful picture, Willie! The frost on the grass and the fog in the background. And of course, a beautiful dog. Wow!

I have chronic pet envy! First time in my life without a dog but want to take the opportunity to do the things like work abroad before I find my next one.

Agnesd - is that strange perspective/a small chair, or is Hobie ginormous?

Are these too big? I can go make them thumbs.
Sometimes small birds need bathes.

Here's my grumpya** cat (Tilly) that only likes me. She tolerates my son, daughter, and wife but I think she thinks I am HER man. Weird Kitty. If you think you might want to pet her, might want to think again. Like I said, she only likes me.

Here is my other cat, Grace. She is not named Grace because she is graceful, more like she is named Grace because she is not graceful, and crashes into the table periodically as she tries to jump up on it. We think she may have been born as a feral cat because of how she is afraid of most everybody. She will never hurt anyone, but she will run and hide if you move funny. To this day she still does this (5 years of living with us) when I get up too fast or when I walk too fast. She is a very lovey kitty though once she gets over her fear of you.

That's a big doggie!

Love the wet birdies. Reminds me of my cats when they (very seldom ever) get baths.

Nick, Grace looks like she has some Siamese in her eyes, and like she moved when God was painting her nose.

Here is our bat-eared Jack Russel 'Tucker'. I couldnt find any pics of just him so this is my son Jake as well.

And here are a few more shots of my Clown Loaches I had. They have the coolest personalities and very social. They were always in piles. And when they swim around the often swim like they were weaving one giant knot, like swarming in and out of the pile in loops. They play dead sometimes too and lay on there side right on the bottom.

Big fella in the middle was 8" long by the time I shut the tank down and gave them away. Wish I could have kept them until they were fully grown. You can see a couple of my much smaller Zebra loaches in that shot too.

My nicer aquariums were a heavily planted freshwater, I really enjoyed running them but it was a ton of work.

Ok, shall scale down my mental image of Hobie from ginormous to merely huge! He looks like he's a lot of fun though.

TJ - love your comment about Nick's cat moving when God painted her nose - think my old dog was possibly falling in & out of open paint pots while he should've been waiting his turn!

Precious boy, Tristan. I guess our kids are kinda like pets too, aren't they. Sweet and cuddly. I love the way you love those loaches. How long can they grow to?

Looks like Leni is "kinda" looking at the camera this time, Willie. Hee.

I'm sorry for your loss too, Hope's Mom. It hurts still today, I know. I have some pets that have passed that if I think about them long enough, I will burst out in tears. I miss them so.
