My feet definitely need some work when it comes to hot pavement. I can tolerate the heat (we actually had a contest at the lake to see who could stand barefoot in the hot sand for the longest time) but I'm afraid of actually burning myself. Mostly I''m just concerned about pavement because I often go barefoot in the parking lot to the pool. And get comments on how gross that is. But anyway. Yesterday was only 88? and the ground was so hot already that I had to speedwalk, which is fine, but on an average day it's usually 95?-100?! I know I won't be able to be barefoot in that and I don't like how sweaty my VFFs get. I guess I'm just being a wimp. I should probably start practicing for short periods of time to get my feet to toughen up. This is just for walking around town though. I run at night. Running barefoot at night is so much fun... despite hitting my heel on a huge rock yesterday and getting a sticker embedded deep in my foot last week that took 3 days to come out. Oh and my dog and I getting skunked over the weekend. Yeah, running at night is a bit... uh... ? I don't know. I'm also scared of mountain lions and wild animals because I live up in the mountains, but it SO peaceful and nice at night! I'm more of a swimmer anyway. I swim twice a day most days and just go for a barefoot jaunt at night to have fun and relax. I'm no marathoner. ; )
