skeptics

I think it's funny when people are skeptical of me running barefoot. Most people that ask me about it are like "oh, that's pretty cool." But then a lesser few of them look at me like I'm insane and just go "ohhhhhKAY then." One kind of rolled her eyes.

Why is there this preconceived notion that people MUST WEAR SHOES? We were not born with shoes. Having bare feet is neither dangerous nor gross in most situations. What's the problem with "naked" feet? I don't get how our feet are any different than our hands. Hands are way more disgusting than feet anyway. My friend thinks it's freaky that I can move my toes independently. Um.... hello? Your toes aren't supposed to be stiff and rigid.

Let them laugh. Let them call me crazy. Not my problem if they're close-minded and completely set in their ways. I don't care what they choose to do with their own feet, but that doesn't mean they can't respect MY opinion and how to treat MY own feet.

It seems like some people want me to prove it. But I have nothing to prove to anybody! I'm not trying to convert everyone who asks me what the hell I'm doing. I'm just going about my own business. Prove to me why your running shoes are so much better than my bare feet.

So anyway. I just sit back and be amused. I'm a very keep-quiet type of person and I'd rather just look on than get in somebody's face. Somebody (um my own dad) keeps giving me counter arguments on why this is so bad for me. Whatever. Until he bans me from running (which wouldn't work that well anyway) I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and let him get all worked up. Not my problem.
