Part 2: Is running in Minimalist shoes better than running barefoot?: The downside of minimalist sho

I guess part one of this post sparked a lot of discussion, so here's part II:

Wearing a minimalist shoe definitely has its advantages, but it also has one clear disadvantage over running barefoot.

When you start running barefoot, the sheer discomfort of running on a rough surface will make you slow down and run very carefully. This gives your body time to adjust to the change in running style and allows it to progressively strengthen until you are strong I enough to go longer distances.

When you run in minimalist shoes, you take the discomfort of a rough surface out of the equation.

This means, that you will be able to run faster, farther and more often than you would have if running without shoes.

When you do this, your body isn't used to the new running form, and doesn't have enough time to adjust, and if you push it too hard, you will get injured.

When you first discover the sheer joy of running barefoot or in minimalist shoes, you will definitely want to explore how far and fast you can go, but if you let this temptation get the best of you, you will get hurt.
