I was running late tonight to join the Couch 2 5k class as a volunteer. So I went strait from work (luckily I was already in shorts as I hadn't planned on being at work long.) I figured at 99 degrees though that the bike trail might be too hot for BFR so I just wore my Van's without socks (which are what I wore to work.) I had to run to catch up lost ground to catch the class.
Anyway... my foot started hurting after I had caught up with the group. I took my shoes off and saw that my toe had a nasty blister formed on the side of it from my shoes rubbing. As it turned out, the pavement wasn't too hot at all and my feet felt much better than in those shoes (which were by no means tight.)
Evidently after running 3 weeks of BFR or invisible shoes running... I'm ruined for shoes! Perhaps socks would've helped but this blister is by far worse than anything BFR has done to my feet so far.
I'm up to 2.5 miles now barefoot on asphalt (chip and seal) bike paths. I'm running between a 10 and 11:30 mile depending on the heat... Iowa is quite the furnace this week!
Happy running!
