My First IBRD Experience

I was excited to be part of my first IBRD event. No matter how independent one may feel, the truth remains that we are built for relationships. Being together with like minded folks is always a plus. As much as I enjoy communicating on our community forums, I looked forward to conversations where I could pickup some nuanced ideas and tips.

Our running group including my son who assisted us.

I was happy to see that all who had committed via our community had attended. We met at 9:00 as promised, but we waited till 9:30 to run just in case somebody was delayed. We started on our wood chip trail as promised. I have never run barefoot on wood chips and the experience is very nice. It wasn't totally abrasion free. The trail enjoyed a new set of chips on the east end of the park and they were filled with edges yet to be rounded. I started my run with a quick pace, but the new chips forced me to be more gentle. The rest of the group seemed to follow suit.

We ran the trail around the park twice, making a distance slightly longer than a 5K. Many were tempted to put on shoes, the cold ground and the rough chips were more of an issue during the second lap.

I was as surprised as any of us to be in the lead. I still finished last.

At the end, we decided not to picnic at the park. The day began with high wind warnings and the temperatures felt more like upper thirties with the wind. It died down and got more pleasant as we ran, but we didn't want to worry about it. It was a short stay, we all had other places to be, but still, sharing a drink and food after a run is really all the rage. I hope runners will join in next year and maybe we should consider a few runs along the way.

Congratulations! Looks like you have a very reliable, close-knit running group! They must get around - I think I've run with some of them.
The photo captions cracked me up.
Seriously, though, that does look like a pretty cool path to run. Better than gravel!

How many people showed up? Love the tee shirt! Looks good! :)
