My barefoot running life in 2010 #2

This post is 2nd blogs about my barefoot running life on here. 1st posted: http://www.barefootrunners.org/build2/blog-post/my-barefoot-running-life-2010-vol1 (I posted my history about my barefoot running life in 2010.) I do about my method before theultra marathon 100km on last Jun in this post.

I bought SPRINT of Vibram Five Fingers soon after finished to read “Born To Run”, and also found out many barefoot runners in Japan on twitter. I exchanged information with them, and knew “the PLAN”http://bit.ly/guzxPl on Runner's world that we need 12 weeks and 5steps to learn the art of running barefoot. This method was for the runners in USA and not for me, because I am Japanese and I (and also almost Japanese people) take off my shoes indoors everytime and everyday. We have many cultures and advantages about the barefoot from long ago. So I created an original method of the barefoot running to need 8weeks and only 1 step. It is “Just Walking in VFFs in 8weeks”.

I discovered a lot of different points between “shoes running” and “barefoot running” that was the landing position, the impact on the knees and hips, calf muscle pain, the changing metabolism, the relations with the brain and more.It gave me a surprise andthe sequence of discovery, and was a prelude to seduction. Isit like an angel or a wicked woman? Either way, It was the only way to surrender myself to her for me.

What do you think why I did not run in VFFs soon? The stopping to run in shoes means also to reverse the common sense of the past and I must adjust myself to the barefoot. I have interpreted that I need the ability to adjust to any changing of the new environment, the way of change policy, the understanding the cultural background and sensory adaptation. I decided to try to form the basis through the most fundamental work=walking. I am a runner first place and already have a certain running ability and technique. When I adjust to the barefoot, I can run at any time in barefoot. I thought. I just walked in 8weeks on last May and April in VFFs.

Next post is about a first running in VFFs at 5km race and the half marathon.
