Musher's Secret!

I went for 4 miler in my barefeet down at Crawfordsburn Country Park, down the paths alongside the beach. It went well. My feet are a little chewed up this morning, a couple of blood blisters and a little tender but all good.
If you don't know already, I was on a couple of Barefoot websites a few weeks back, and someone was talking about getting scuffed and tender feet after a run, and could anyone recommend anything. Any hints/tips etc. One of the coaches on there recommended Musher's Secret. Said to look it up on Amazon and that it's great for barefooters.
I checked it out, and basically it's a wax… a wax you apply to……yep, the paws of Huskies! To protect their paws against the snow, ice, salt and grit they encounter. Oh yeah, they actually sell that stuff… for dogs…
I bought some… :)
I tried it out last night before (and after) my run… Best product ever!!!
Man, I can't wait to tell you's what happened, you couldn't write this stuff.
I ran down the path until Runmeter pinged two miles and then turned back. It was quite late, 9pm-ish, getting dark. There were a few people out walking their dogs and couples scattered around so not too many comments on the feet.
The weird thing is, the first dog I passed got quite excitable, started bounding around yapping, then chased me up the beach for a bit. Man, I couldn't stop laughing at it. It was a little Westie and it was going crackers. I could hear the man shouting after his dog and trying to get her back. "Daisy!!! Daiiiisy!!!!"….Daisy!?, brilliant… well, at least he still has his dignity. Though I guess Thor isn't really a suitable name for a Westie.
Anyway the second dog I passed did the same thing! Turned and ran up the path with me, skipping about, looking at me as if to say "Where we goin, huh, huh??". I started thinking, what's going on here!? I normally get a few small turns of a dog when I pass but never them running with me.
Got me thinking!
Nearing the end of the run I spotted another dog and figured, right, if this one turns and runs with me something is up. It DID! It freakin DID! It was some sorta slimline greyhound type, and it turned and followed me a good 100m up the beach! The owners were going nuts!! Shouting, whooping and apologising! I was actually crying with laughter!
Seriously, I don't know if they put something in the Musher's Secret to make dogs like it, so it makes it easier to put on their paws, or what, but the dogs love it! When I got home my two dogs went crackers too!
It's almost like a kids TV programme!! Too funny! I can't wait to try it again and see if it was just a coincidence… Maybe the owners have to walk their dogs at that time of night as they're crazy ASBO dogs and there's less people about so they're less likely to run off, or something, but if it was a coincidence, it was a big one. Needs more testing but I hope that's reason and that it happens again! LOL.
Musher's Secret! Check it out!
