I remember this as a great race from last year. Idid the 10 mile in 2009, in shoes. The pictures are really funny as Ihad a big knee brace on from an injury.
I remembered the course as all grass and dirt, but as it turned out, it was mostly driveway rocks with a 1/2 mile of grass at the end. I finished okay, but it was pretty painful. My arches are bruised from all the stones. Some of the stonework was ridiculous, straight up level 9 sharp 2-inch rocks.
Still, I finished respectably, with a 54 minute time for the 5 mile. Last year in shoes Idid 45 and 50 minute 5 mile loops. I came in 7 out of 16 in my age group. This is definitely a race I would only try again in Vibram's, but I don't think I'll have to worry about it again.
Kind of a frustrating race all told. Ihad a bad attitude from those rocks. Will stick to road races for awhile!
