Hey there!,
As you may know, I am trying to find all the BF/minimalist activists I can here at Osan AB, ROK. So, I began by making a few phone calls to find out the best route to takewith advertisingand to learn of any legal implications that may be imposed. We have one Exercise Physiologist here and his name for this blog entry will be Dr. Dan. Dr. Dan, throughout our conversation, wasn't very responsive to me or to barefoot running. Upon asking him what his thoughts on it were, he replied, "It makes sense, but there haven't been any studies to suggest that BF running is better. Everything that I've read has been purely anecdotal." I didn't feel as though it was my place to tell him that there have been many studies published regarding the subject, and left it as it was. After asking him a few questions about the proper chain, he then gave me a number to the director of the Fitness Center. I paid my respects to Dr. Dan, hung up, and dialed away. The Director picked up and we talked a little about what I should do, and also told me to call Dr. Dan about trying to set up a running group since HE is already directing his own shin-dig. Then it kind of dawned on me that maybe he was trying to dispel my efforts to keep his organization alive or something. Maybe he honestly does not agree with BF running, and I'm sure there are many people like this out there. Just the way it is. I try to think of it the way people didn't want to believe that the earth was round when evidence suggested that it was. Personally, I still think it's flat. lol.
So, after really getting no information and support, I decided to keep it small first and advertise in the unit. Currently, my First Sergeant is helping me write the email to properly address the squadron for any takers. This is proving to be a tricky deal! I don't have any idea how to keep it short, but still put enough information in it to catch attention. In addition, I can't seem to decide on a specific day of the week or time to meet up with people for a warm-up and run since members work all hours of the day and usually get pretty wasted on the weekends. Would like to hear what you have to say about that. So, Monday, I'll be sending out a revised edition to the email, and I hope to have a few people hit me up. I'm always open for advice, and I'm still trying to decide on what kinds of things to do during our meetings. Hopefully, things will come to mind when the time comes to be a leader.
Thanks! and Peace!,
Sincerely, Love, Yours truly?,
-Man on Soles.
