Day 4 and TMTS

Nosehill is my favorite place to run barefoot.

I usualy find a couple of days off to let that calf relax helps. Lots of massaging :)

Great question.

I started barefoot running in October so it was difficult to run barefoot throughout that first winter. My shoe of choice was the Walmart water shoe. During the winter I worked on getting up to180 cadence, lifting my foot off the ground (on ice it is very easy to tell if you are pushing off because your foot will slip as you lift). In April I did my first barefoot 5k.
May be I could have done it faster in the summer but in some ways I am glad I had the time to strengthen my foot. I tried lots of minimal shoes but never went back to my motion control runners. I bought shoes and more shoes but settled on the shoe that was the least supportive and gave maximum ground feel. Running on our treadmill allowed me to run in socks and focus on form. It is amazing running on dry snow in socks. As long as your feet are dry socks do a great job.

Glad to hear you calf is getting better.

Stick with it and you will come out in the spring ready to enjoy the summer.
