Cold weather barefoot running.

Hello everyone. Thought I'd start sharing what hasworked for me and what has not while running "barefoot" here in Alaska. I know there are many places that share a similar climate and my hope is that questions and helpful information can be shared here by us North Country minimalist runners...I live in Wasilla Alaska and am fortunate enough to have snowmachine/dogsled trails out my back door. So far 0 degrees is the coldest Ive headead out in my FFV KSO Treks. I have waterproofed them with Nikwax and it seems to work well even on the synthetics between the toes. I have been wearing the Injinji crew length hiker and they work well. Atbelow freezing tempsI find less of a problem with snow melt and stay quite dry. As the temps warm and the foot heats up my toes were getting a bit wet and this prompted the application of Nikwax. This product is recommended for Goretex so it allows the fabric to breath as well as repel water. Since the application I have kept my feet/toes dry. So far I have not needed to reapply. Its been about 2 weeks and 6 runs the longest being 10K. I am planning to purchase a pair of above ankle gaiters soon and pair them up with my KSOs. Pictures and review to follow!
