Barefoot in the snow - for my first barefoot run!

OK, I have been trying to follow the slow build up plan that has multiple stages to it. I found running on the spot was giving me grief in the area where you might get Morton's neuroma which is probably largely down to my bad form. Anyway, I decided to try a very very short run today, barefoot, it's -1 out there and there's a little snow on the pavement.

You can tell it's going to be a short run as I'm not remotely in normal running attire (in fact I'd just returned from the station & still had my coat etc. on).

You can see it here:

My smaller toes felt a bit numb after this tiny run but other than that, no pains yet.

Enjoy - I did :)

Thanks for taking us with you for your little run in the snow. It's more fun than running on the spot. Ibet you got weird looks from other people.

There was only 1 lady with a toddler & she must have seen that I had no shoes on before I saw her face because there was a very odd expression and she was staring at the ground to avoid risking any eye contact with me! Her toddler seemed to notice something different but was otherwise unphased by me (& I think you can hear a toddler voice briefly where I pass them but didn't re-point the camera - I'm such a Youtube noob [& BF noob too!]).

Priceless! If I do another video I must try & catch the faces of people heading my way!

:santa:

I did another BF in the snow earlier today. The snow is quite a bit deeper and the built in weather "app" on my phone claims it's -4 (but not sure where it gets that info from).

I did the same run as yesterday. Someone standing by her door exclaimed something about "no shoes" and a girl waiting outside the corner shop looked surprised. On my way back down the street the woman who'd shouted earlier asked something like "why" and I just shouted back you'll have to read about it (as my toes were getting numb and I wanted to get back in!).

Due to the depth of the snow it kept building up on my toes and even once I'd got through the door my toes were cold enough for the snow to still be on them by the time I'd grabbed a towel. The smaller toes felt numb for a good few minutes although they seem perfectly happy again now.

I found my traction was not great and this (perhaps due to bad form?) resulted in lower cadence than I thought I should be putting in. I was trying not to think too much about it & just run & let my feet do whatever they needed to.

My youngest (daughter) was watching along with my eldest (son). She said he says you're loopy but he denied it
