Barefoot in Dublin and Chicago

While visiting relatives in Dublin, Ohio I ran barefoot 4.5 miles on Saturday and another 4+ on Sunday. Nice warm weather and of course I ran without a shirt. The concrete sidewalks were smooth and the multi-use trail was rough in some spots. I've begun to follow Barefoot Ken Bob's advice to start pulling up on your feet before they touch the ground. This softens your landing and enables you to master the rough stuff.

I then traveled to Chicago and ran barefoot 8 miles on Monday and another 7.75+ Tuesday on the Lakeshore trail both north and south of downtown. Monday it was cloudy and about 60 degrees. Tuesday was 5 degrees warmer and sunny. No shirt both days! Lots of runners appear to be getting ready for the Chicago marathon (10/10/10) About 5 gave me a thumbs up. One runner came up behind me cheering and encouraging me. At the end of my runs, the doormen at the Fairmont gave me bottled water and talked to me about barefoot running.
