Back to Barefoot!

So I started running minimalist with VFFs in November 2009, and started actual barefooting in the summer of 2010. I loved it then, and it taught me more than anything I had tried before. For the first time I looked forward to my runs, and enjoyed every step. It was fascinating. But unfortunately, due to some military training, I had to take several months away from barefooting and spend them in racing flats. The flats did their job, but it wasn't the same.

Today I finally got back out there barefoot, and LOVED it! The nice, warm weather was a huge help, sure, but the 50 minute, ~5 mile run was perfectly effortless and felt fantastic. I remembered why I loved barefoot running so much. My feet were telling me exactly what to do, and I immediately fell into a light, easy cadence and never looked back. This is why I run. It's like an anatomy lesson with every run. I'm definitely very thankful to be able to be back to barefooting. It makes it all worthwhile. :)
