I ran fast! (For a corgi)
Today's early morning run had a companion, one of my house guests. We did my usual route, but today's menu had me running for 15 minutes then walking 5, then running another 15. I noticed that I kept a little quicker pace trying to keep up with my companion, but I tried to stick to my usual as best as I could. Somewhere along the line, my tracker mapped my second mile out of my four as my...

The Best Run Yet
Friday, I was running on fumes sleep wise. I nearly didn't want to run, but I decided to anyway because I needed the zen meditative state that running brings me. Best decision ever. For the first time, I didn't have any hotspots, abrasions, or soreness in general. I ran my longest distances/times yet, wasn't winded, and actually had the desire and ability to run longer than I did. For this...

My first chip&seal walk and other things
"Week 6," or for me, Week 8, was a wrap on Thursday. I can't say that my last two runs of the week were my most wonderful or transcendent, but they were still delightful. My body still dislikes running after the sun comes up, but I keep making it. I do wonder when my heart rate will finally stop rocketing to the 180's, but at least it doesn't go over 200 much anymore. At this point I...

Running in the Dark
Last night, I went for a wonderful, albeit overly long walk. It was a test for my feet, to see if the blistery bits had healed. Turns out, yes. Yes they had. I wound up walking about 5.5 miles in my xeros. The only bad part was that my phone died mid-walk, so my backup plan was kaput until I got home. While my feet were tired, the skin wasn't damaged. I gave them a little cold soak and all...

Blistering Sands and the Tale of Two Grumpy Feet.
Here, I thought I was doing so well. And I was, until today when my Superman complex kicked in. The small set of blisters under my third and fourth MP joints on the right side had finally given up the ghost, lost their extra hide, and had started toughening the underskin. The left side blister in the same location had toughened and reattached, despite more running. Yay for better form!...

A morning of zen.
Poetic MissRandie: This morning, something finally "clicked." I had an urge to go run and, rather than keeping to my schedule for schedule's sake, I went ahead and did a mindful scan of my body to see if it would be a wise idea. (This is something I've begun doing, and it's quite freeing to listen to ones own self.) Body says, "a bit stiff in the anterior left hip, a bit tender in the...

The Beginning
As of today, I am just a little over two weeks into the beginnings of my new footloose and fancy free lifestyle. Just a baby tender hoofed calf. My feet are a bit grumpy, but I fully expected them to be. I've had them encased for so long in careful footwear that I had let them lazily atrophy. No more of that! I have yet to put my running shoes back on except once, and have instead been...
